five highly regarded fighters with resumes that may not have matched their ability. how do you rank them pound for pound relative to each other, and what number range should they fall in on, say, a top 100 list (of course it could be argued that some don't even make the cut)?
Ricardo Lopez - 15-25 Eder Jofre - 20-35 Larry Holmes - 40-60 Aaron Pryor - 40-60 Jimmy Wilde - cant say
pachilles, you really think finito has a top 15 resume of all time? I understand if you think he looks so good in action that he deserves a high ranking maybe, but his list of scalps aint too hot. Wilde has a good resume. He did very well against the top bantams and flys of his day.
No probably not resume. But i wasn't around to follow the careers of any of these fighters, so really i can only go on footage i see on the vold videos i have and the internet. And Lopez is probably the most impressive fighter ive ever seen. He certainly can't be ranked above the obvious very top guys who fought lists of ATG's, but none of the guys in this thread had outstanding competition
Jofre did IMO, he fought some really good dudes and came out on top, at his peak he was incredible like a bantam sugar ray.. if you got the time this is a pretty good summary of his career and life http://www.ibroresearch.com/?p=200
i agree. i ranks lopez VERY highly (probably 1st or 2nd of those 5 name) but his resume is not his greatest strength. instead his skill and nearly flawless talent does it personally, i've always been underwhelmed by wilde's resume
