I wanted JMM to win and scored it to him by 2 rounds. I don't think I was being objective at all though, just scoring the fight correctly.

Hmm. Being honest, I had it 115-113 Marquez. I had one round a draw as well which people have told me was more of a Marquez round.

I would have been happy with a draw however.. I felt Pacman did NOT do enough to win.

The problem with a high guard as opposed to dodging, as I've ALWAYS said, is you lose points. Potential "missing" punches make a loud slapping noise when they impact a guarded glove.. thus some can be mistaken for connecting punches.

    Cheers

I dont know why but I scored it a shut out for the GOAT. Pacs footwork was so impressive that jumping around was better that JMMs 5 punch combos.

It is no secret I'm a Marquez man, and have been ardent about him getting raw deals in '04 and '08.

That said...my 116-112 for JMM during the live broadcast (still my only viewing to date) was uncolored by my existing bias, which is always shelved while watching and scoring round by round.

I expected Marquez to be a sitting duck based on his previous failure above 140 lbs, which he wore like a yoke around his neck against FMJ - and his physical gifts seeming to have boiled off the bone a bit more than Pacquiao's over the years (irrespective of weight).

His performance was a revelation - and while it didn't make for the type of combustive warfare many had hoped for, his ability to stick to the gameplan and keep Pacquiao lunging out of position to himself become a sitting duck for right hands IMO saw him earn the greater overall share of rounds with very few negotiable enough to "swing" the other way.

it really is a matter of preference (in style)....thus its hard to be objective. People talk about effective aggression or ring generalship....everyone has different takes on what these "subjective" measures are. With that said, its no surprise the judges gave the nod to Pac as historically speaking...the more active guy tends to to be given the close rounds. IMO thats the gist of this fight, unless JMM did something spectacular (as he did a lot in the midrounds), Pac's workrate and activity ultimately won him the rounds he needed. Which reinforces my point that a certain style is preferred by the opinions that count the most---the judges.
