After his Saturday performance against the former leader Cotto, the WBA Champ Margarito has now paced himself as the leader of the race. The WBO Champ Paul Williams, meanwhile is not far off of the lead and much of the crowd suspects he'll soon pass Tony. Andre Berto recently has surged with his winning of the WBC title and is now amongst the leaders. Joshua Clottey and Zab Judah are a few paces behind Berto and one of them will catch up this coming Saturday for the IBF crown. As for the former leader Cotto, he now finds himself without a belt and in the middle of the pack. There has been talk of him wanting to fight in Puerto Rico in his next match so it would make alot of sense to match him with fellow Puerto Rican and Margarito victum Cintron. The winner would earn an opportunity against a titlist and get back to the front of the race.

One things for sure, this race is not a sprint but it's a marathon and the eventual winner will have to survive an exhausting gauntlet. Who in your mind is favored to become the eventual undisputed Welter Weight Champ?
Will we see one anytime soon?
Oh and what's up with the "Ring Belt"?

I would favor Marg now because he defeated the number one WW. After him is Paul Williams.

My prediction is that Marg and Paul are gonna be the last men standing to duke it out for the undisputed title. With Berto there for the first defense and complete unification.

But that all can fall apart if Money May decides to take back his title, which i doubt will happen.

BTW nice avatar....Hendrix is the best ever :good

To me, the winner of Marg vs Williams II would be the undisputed champ - and could be said to have cleaned out the division, regardless of belts. Because.....

    Marg beat Clottey
    Cotto beat Zab
    Williams beat Quintana
    Berto is a paper champ

Thx for the thread reply and yes Hendrix is the best!

Hopefully we'll get to see Marg/Williams 2 with the winner being recognized as the division's best. But I'm hoping that the winner pursues unification bouts with the Clottey/Judah winner and Berto so that once and for all we can have an undisputed champ. If a Marg/Williams rematch fails to materialize i'd love to see a Marg/Clottey rematch; assuming Clottey wins. I'm one of those who believes Clottey would beat Marg based his performance in their first fight.

Marg's win over Clottey wasn't very convincing thus in order for Marg to be recognized as the true undisputed champ he must defeat Williams and the Clottey/ Judah winner (which will be Clottey in my estimation).

He pretty much sumed it up.... but the Clottey fight was close, so he should get another crack at Margo eventually.

Right on but you still need to clean out the paper champ. Berto is undefeated so you need to vanquish him.
