abuffy just made a thread on here saying that Rafael said that Wards camp want GGG this fall, I think he's read the article wrong, Rafael's actually saying that Kovalev-Ward appears likely in near future. I don't see anywhere on the blog Rafael saying anything about Ward wanting GGG this fall or that's it's likely to happen.

On a teleconference this week promoting Kovalev-Mohammedi, Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, who promotes Kovalev, was asked about it and she sounded optimistic.

"We have been talking to Andre Ward's people all week,” she said. “And I think we all agree the fight is going to happen. It is just a matter of when. The talks have been very amicable. They are deciding who they want to fight next, and we have Sergey's schedule for his next few fights planned. By the end of next year, maybe a little sooner, you’re going to get to see that fight.

That article was posted yesterday and Duva says the fight has a good chance of happening by the end of next year. In his chat today, Rafael states that Ward's camp wants to fight Golovkin by the end of this year.

Ward is a very smart man, I doubt he would take such a risky fight if he knew he had no shot of winning.

I'd still favor Kovalev, but im definately not writing Ward off

I like Kovalev, but I like Ward better. Awesome fight and I hope it happens! I'd be disappointed if Ward loses.

Ward needs little GGG - he gets wrecked by Kovalev. I really don't even wanna see that fight - it isn't competitive.

Unfortunately , Ward doesnt have much choice...GGG has made it very clear that his intentions are to unify middleweight, which is totally fine since HE IS a small mw.

Soooo... "near future" is 14 months from now?

I hope one of them gets Juanma'd just so everyone making money off it gets what they deserve.

Dan Rafael was pretty clear in saying Ward's team wants to make the GGG fight first, this fall.

Then, if successful vs GGG, it sounds like he'll take on Kovalev sometime in 2016.

Ward would be the favorite in both fights and if he won both, he becomes immortal. Just my humble opinion.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

Agreed. Winning both would be something else, especially when you consider what he had done previously. If he could do that, it will make his lackluster period of inactivity look like a small hiccup.

But if he loses to one or both, he will be scorned. Well, he'll be scorned regardless, but it would make his hiatus look even poorer.

hopefully happens, both ggg and kovalev fights.

would be great to see those 2 against ward.

ward is better than anyone they have fought.

will ward skills make them look like clowns

I hate this whole modern mentality that "losing just isn't an option".

If I was a world class fighter I'd be fighting cans too. Why not? I still make a lot of money and I keep winning. And don't have to be scorned.

Losses need to become acceptable again.

I agree. It's terrible. It gives those with star power and relative star power little incentive to make risky fights, which sucks.

That's why I was rooting for Price today. He had the moxy to fight Thompson early on in his career and I thought it would serve him well going forward. Instead he looks ruined. He had the star power to make a rebound after two losses could of opened some doors.

Good point about Price, which reminds me I am sometimes also guilty of being caught up in the very thing I was just criticizing.

    Ward by decision easy.
