Mendoza had that nasty Colombian style (all crazy lead rights, and stance turned sideways with lots of erratic movement) and once Rafael shook off the rust and started lining up he obliterated him. Izzy of course was what he was by that point, but likewise there Rafael got his gears greased and then set about his smashing. He's an underdog here - but not a hopeless one, IMO. If he can drag Lopez into the deep waters he can drown him. The risk is getting blitzed fast.
So you're looking past the fight in favor of JuanMa? You could easily turn the rhetoric that you used against Marquez and apply it to JuanMa and say "Mtagwa". I just think it's going to be a great fight and should be awesome to see.
Logic thinking says Juanma should win because he is younger, stronger and bigger. But ruling Marquez out is just a mistake that i hope Juanma isnt gonna fall for.
castillo beat mayweather in their first fight (nvm the official results), so not sure what your point is.
RF is definitely a faded fighter. How faded and how much he has left is ultimately the question. I think he has 1 big fight/war left for him on the top stage. I fear Marquez will be one step behind JuanMa. His best shot is to use his experience and try setting traps. With that being said I'll be rooting for Marquez. Always taking a liking to the Marquez brothers.
Daniel Zaragoza. And like i've been saying...Juanma better hope he takes Rafa out early...the longer the fight goes the more dangerous it will be for Juanma, since he isnt used to going the distance just yet...
People are saying that this is a good fight to see where JuanMa is in his development. I tend to think the opposite: This is the perfect fight to see just where Rafa is at the moment. My suspicions (and I suspect Arum's too) are that, while he's still a good fighter, he's faded from what he once was. JuanMa better hope that's true, though, because if Rafa's anywhere even close to his best, JuanMa's in for the hardest fight of his life. I like JuanMa, but I hope Rafa pulls this one off.
