Dan Rafael is saying Marquez is out of the Santa Cruz fight since he's having gallstone surgery.

Schaeffer says Santa Cruz is staying on the card.

Thank God. It's a bummer to see former greats getting mopped around the floor and used as stepping stones. Hope Rafa gets well.

I hope they pick Drian Francisco for Sta. Cruz.

I know my boy has a tough task ahead of him, but he'll definitely give Leo a great fight.

    I rather see,

Santa Cruz- the raging bull/ moreno/

  5. Damn, I was actually looking forward to this fight. Then again Marquez' body has been crumbling down right in front of our eyes for the past few years and he doesn't consume steoirds like hs brother does so I think it was meant to be. Still think it would have been a nice little test for Santa Cruz, the kid is nice but I wonder how he would fair against war tested Marquez.

Rafael should get out of boxing. He was a solid fighter with absurd heart and great punching ability, but it's over. He's taken too much punishment.

JMM said prior to the Mijares fight that the loser should seriously consider retirement.

It seems that true Mexican fighters (those living in Mexico) are pulling out from this "Stinko de Mayo Dos" sh!t fight card...

Glad Rafa is off the card, didn't like the thought of him being feed to the young lion Santa Cruz

Marquez has the worst luck. Injured thumb from a closing car door, fractured shoulder, injury from a fall, flu , etc.

He should consider retirement though. Although he has a shot against the relatively unrefined Santa Cruz. Would have liked to see it but it's probably better he retires.

I love Rafa, but he should retire. After the world wars with Vasquez, the beating against Mijares, the war Lopez, and the pastig he took from Nishioka, not to mention a hall of fame career filled with to many other battles to count, this guy is a serious candidate for pugilistic dementia.

But he's stubborn as hell and he's probably jealous of his big brother's massive success, so he'll almost certainly keep at it.
