hi, i may be a tad behind the times with this one, but i never did find out if marquez' injury in the lopez fight turned out to be genuine.

    does anyone know for certain?

(being a marquez fan i would hate the thought that it was just an excuse to pull out of what was becoming a beating from lopez.........someone put me out my misery please)

I'd say it was legit. He was far too left hook dominant in the fight and I questioned why during it, before knowing about the shoulder injury. There'd be no reason to be so favourable to the left hook otherwise.

I'm excited for a rematch. Marquez is still an elite fighter.

I think he had a hairline fracture on his right shoulder. It was a legitimate injury, and it really explains why he wasn't throwing his right cross enough.

yeah it was noticable how he was relying on the left so much, seeing as he has more pop in his right.
also interesting to note that he buzzed lopez with the left on more than one occasion, so yeah if it's legit injury he had a rematch should be a given.
doing that well against lopez with effectively one arm says alot for marquez' class.

Legit injury or not, JML will stop him again.

Might be true but Marquez still stands tall cos it was a close(competitive) fight that Lopez was clearly winning.

keep dreaming. It wasnt even a legit stoppage. If anything JML was the only one hurt during this fight. In a rematch with a healthy Rafa i see Rafa stopping him. He was hurt by Rafas weaker hand. Now a full on right hand he will not take.

It will be interesting to see what the odds are. Also to the OP. It was a hairline fracture on his shoulder.

Why this ppl choose to b blind when it comes to their fighter is beyond me, yes JML was landing some hard shots but the only one hurt was him, and RM was the smallest fighter, IMO the next time around, Marquez will b filling his frame a little b more comfortable, and with the right arm fully healed it could b very interesting.

Exactly. Everyone saw how Rafa wasnt throwing his main weapon which was the right hand. I mean it was even in the prefight fight plan. Everyone on the RBR was questioning why Rafa was not attacking a southpaw with his money punch. If that left hook could hurt JML then im sure the right hand would do even more damage.

I just watched that fight recently and it was crap how Weeks give JML time to recover. He should have waited till the end of the round. I like Tony but he ****ed up there.

Nobody really knows if it was legit, anybody that saids differently is a fan or lying. Unless you are there in the hospital when they conduct the MRI or Xrays then you cant talk. Promoters and managers fake those all the time as well to protect their boxers is too easy to do.

I think he didnt want his fanbase to know he quit so he said he was injured that way it would be easier to accept he doesnt has it anymore. Now he'll get one more payday out of the deal instead.

And he'll get ko in the rematch unless he quits again or fakes another injury.

It was reported in several sites after the fight.

The man had a fractured shoulder and was given leave for at least 6 months, which threw out the possible rematch for this March out the window. Now it has to be later this year or never.

Please don't talk our of your ass next time. :good
