This is the Haye v Harrison of 'pound for pound' boxing. It really is. At this stage, Mosley deserves a fight with someone like Andre Berto and that's serious. That's the level he's at both in boxing terms and even in financial terms. He won't sell a fight against Pacquiao. The fight will sell because Manny could make money fighting an Everlast punchbag. It's a pointless match and is a disgrace. Why HBO would pay for this and try to make it their first 'big event' of 2011 is beyond me. It's about time the tv networks stepped up and said "either fight Floyd, if that's not possible fight Marquez or just **** off".

Do you seriously think hbo is going to tell arum and PAC to **** off? You said he could fight an everlast punch bag and that's the point! The guy can fight anyone and it's a sell out money maker

I would love it if Mosely sparked Manny early but we all know its just never going to happen.

I blame them all for not getting a fight on with Mayweather, this is a mere side issue I don't care much about.

Those who are calling for Pacquiao to fight Martinez are worse than Arum himself, it is a step too far.

Berto hasn't really proven anything so I'd say Mosley is an equal, if not better choice all round at this stage, no arguments there.

The Marquez situation is more complicated in that to make it competitive Manny would need to drop to 140lbs which in honesty may not be a good thing to do if he's still hoping to fight Floyd at welter, and I'd propose Mosley is a better choice/fighter than Marquez at 147lbs.

I said this all after Margarito.

Yes, it's **** and so is Arum but it is a mere side issue for Boxing as the entire Boxing World should take some steps to get Manny and Floyd in a ring together for the good of the Sport.

HBO Have no power here, they do not the money up they simply put up the production and they make their cut. They could say that they won't produce a 24/7 which is what they did for Pacquiao-Clottey. If HBO said no Top Rank would go alone. Sadly there is nothing that can be done about situations like this.

The only one who can say no to this is Pacquiao.

The fight that most interests me for 2011 is Father Time v Arum.

Pac could make 140 no problem. Bob is a twisted old prune and wants nothing to do with golden boy guys. And i am disappointed in shane. Gbp get him the floyd fight, stick by him after he flops and then go out on a limb to make a ppv for him fighting mora. Shane is a snake and they all deserve each other. Crap crap fight.

Excellent article and I agree 100%. It is a joke match-up. Anyone that pays to watch that needs their head examined.

Mosley vs Berto was a great cross roads fight that should be happening instead of this.

It is all about intrigue and this bout has no intrigue other than racists saying Pac will have now fought a slick black boxer :)

It is a crap fight, what I am saying is they are ALL crap fights for Manny so fighting Mosley now is probably the best option.

Mayweather/Pacquiao is the ONLY decent fight out there for both fighters IMO and it's hurting the Sport that it isn't happening.

I dislike Arum as much as the next guy but already the message-boards are crammed with "Fight Marquez!" threads, so when you think about it, Team Pacquiao are really "hyping" that fight up already, just by choosing Mosley as their next opponent.

I predict that if Mayweather/Pacquiao doesn't happen then Pacman's next fight will be against Marquez at either 147lbs or the Catchweight that Floyd fought him at, I'd bet my bottom dollar on it.

That will give Berto time to hype himself up a bit and he'll come after Marquez.

I'm just hoping the Floyd thing happens somehow ......

I've just start reading a Mosley interview and he exposes Arum. Arum was saying it was JMM, Berto and Mosley but a few weeks before the bout was even signed, Arum told Mosley in meetings that if Mayweather doesn't want to play then the fight would be with him!
