i was watching some old rafael fights and he could take a beating and come back for as long as he could. i dont know too much about miguel, but also a champion many defenses. based on what i see in boxrec about their records, it seems to be an even fight.

    who would win at lightweight?

how would either fare against fellow dela hoya rival genaro hernandez?

    MAG was better IMO.

Better chin, a bit quicker and IMO a little more skilled...offensively I mean. He really had virtually no defense, keep a wide open guard and negligible head movement from the stuff I have seen of him. But he had a good kit of punches and seemed to me to have underrated counter punching ability.

Hernandez probably matches better with MAG than Rueles doesn...Rafa didnt mind going to war and that helps out Gonzalez. But Genaro at least at times showed he could box a bit smart from range...Still though I think MAG gets him.

    Got to agree with WAR.

Overall skill wise I think there's not too much in it, but MAG was just more of a physical presence and would out-brute Ruelas in the end.

Also agree that Gonzalez pips Hernandez whilst Ruelas would probably lose a tight decision to Hernandez at lightweight.

Gonzalez has enough speed & skill to try & keep Rafael off balance & get a close decision win. But a big Ruelas right hand could change things in a hurry. MAG just might nip Hernandez in a tight affair.
Ruelas would want a war with Hernandez, but Chicanito is too smart & boxes to a UD.
But I do think Gabriel is a skilled enough boxer to beat MAG.

MAGO was definitely the better fighter of the two.
