regardless of why it's happening, i think it's a good thing... creating competition between hbo and showtime can only lead to the fans getting bigger, better, and more thoughtful events

  2. no it means bob arum can keep feeding us bull**** fights, he is using both tv networks against eachother.

This is great news.. HBO has been blowin Golden boy for the past few years, it's time they realize that they aren't boxing...

Potential CBS, countdown..Which could lead to future fights back on regular network TV... Very positive step, bring boxing back to the people...

The fight's on PPV anyway. I don't care about the build-up. Yes, Pacquiao is a congressman. Filipinos love him. Whatever. Same ****.

i hope CBS isn't used too much through the promotion. They haven't been a part of the Super Six at all. This fight is not a special event. It shouldn't be treated as such.

Showtime has the better team anyways

    good move

it's a Pay Per View, so the only difference is the production. HBO's overall production quality has been on a serious decline. Showtime is getting better and better.

Also, Pac was on CBS once, right after sixty minutes. CBS and Pac already have a relationship

It's clear sign of Arum losing ground. Showtime can't put up the kind of money for the event and the PPV success is very doubtful. Arum will have to pay at least $14.000.000 for the whole event and it just won't generate that much. Old shithead is about to learn a lesson, he just doesn't know it yet.

Well considering how much money Arum has made for HBO when there are other options can you blame him?

HBO weren't willing to cough up $1.5 million for Cotto yet paid $1.2 million for Berto - Hernandez???

Arum's a ***** but he's a great business man, this is just him firing off a warning shot to HBO.

Cotto vs Martirosyan is a hell of a fight. For only 1.5M? how can HBO turn it down.

people with real money are not worried about losing "some" money(ARUM) . Specially fighters that have made significant amounts of money...HBO...SHO...who cares Pac PPV will always sell..its a country/pride/tradition thing!!!!

Sure he is, but what does that have to deal with any of this?

HBO made a business decision on the Cotto fight. Arum made a business decision on the Pacquiao fight.

And Mayweather-Pacquiao I don't think was happening anyway. There's no sign right now that Mayweather is still an active boxer. So the people lamenting that, honestly, stop the crocodile tears, we've been subjected to bullsh*t on that for almost a year, and Pacquiao's next fight being on Showtime is suddenly the deal breaker on that fight never occurring? Please.
