Could be good for boxing in general in the long run. Competition between promoters and networks. OTOH, bad for Mayweather-Pacquiao.
well, at least my friends kno Wlad as "That giant dude who's banging the cheerleader from Heroes":hey
I think it would give us more bull**** fights and a lot of excuses from fighters that claim they cant fight some guy because he fights at hbo for example.
Here's a link to a very interesting article written by Hauser just over a year ago about boxing and HBO. http://www.secondsout.com/columns/thomas-hauser/hbo-and-boxing-at-a-crossroads
Good article. I still can't believe they paid over $3 million for the Tarver-Dawson rematch. What a waste.
That's the flip side, unfortunately. But that's happening right now already with Top Rank and GBP anyway. TR is just changing networks the match-ups still the same.
hopefully this is just a one fight deal for pacquiao to fight on showtime, and no longterm contract because then you can say goodbye to the mayweather fight ever happening. personally, i don't think arum has ever been that interested in getting the floyd fight, he's been more interested in getting pacquiao to fight the fighters who are in his promotion. everybody deep down especially arum knows that mayweather's style and tools possess a very tough fight for pacquioa.
i like pac and hes great for boxing....but hes a robot and YES man to bob arum at this point in his career? i mean had shane not got shut out and quit against floyd after round 2....and look like **** against sergio mora and not even get a win not to mention being about 5 moths shy of 40 when they fight......thats who you pick? hahaha wow... if this is true...HBO has earned some respect for not wanting to pay for a mismatch and not gonna try and sell this garbage to the public
Something new for boxing is always a good thing. Hope it does good and maybe change the way that boxing works. Maybe this can get boxing back into prime time. Doubtful but just wishful thinking. If it does good, imagine floyd/pacquiao being advertising on CBS.
bob arum is doing everything in his power to jeopardize the floyd fight with pacquiao. first it was the texas stadium, and now it's HBO. i'm not sure what the problem is, but i don't think it'll be do with HBO having a problem with the mosley fight as mosley-mayweather did well in PPV buys, and they know pacquiao and mosley should do just aswell. i think arum is playing games, and it all results in keeping his prize asset fighting his guys without the risk of someone like floyd coming along ruining his financial plans. arum would be happy in putting pacquiao in with cotto and margarito again, that's what he's like.
Great point, because it's obviously helping all the other fighters who fight on Showtime...SMFH. I like Showtime, I have Showtime, I watch fights on Showtime...but that **** is second rate compared to HBO, period.
You absolutely have to be on LSD, there's no way you can believe this to be true. HBO is the Gold Standard of boxing as it stands today, Showtime is a distant second, I subscribe to both, I watch both, HBO is better hands down, Lampley is literally one of the three smartest people in Sports media, Kelerman gets on my nerves but he knows his ****, Merchant is an old dick, but Manny, Jim, Larry/Max a good team. HBO KO3 Showtime
