Sorry but that´s just bs. Ottke beat more ranked contenders than Calzaghe and unified. How´s that a "fake" champ? Same with Sturm. Not fake for sure but the "tune-up-fights" every second fights are sh*t.

Well, yeah, I agree with that. I´d like to see him face better competition, I´m pretty sure he would surprise a few people. But it isn´t as if he is a "fake champ" or only fights bums. He fights a bum and a ranked contender alternating. His record is actually pretty decent given the scareness of the division during most of his career.

I think the robin reid fight ****ed up svens reputation, him being a very boring fighter to watch doesnt help either.
By the way sven didnt have the wbc belt, calazghe was also the better fighter.

Sturm is not that bad a fighter indeed, I think I underrate him myself as well.
I mostly blame the wba, look at this:
    superchamp: sturm,
    champ: golovkin
why doesnt he fight golovkin, or martinez or pirog, I think a fight vs zbik would make nice money in germany as well.
I guess sturm is just happy with making easy money, its too bad. After he retires he will be remembered for his best fight being a loss, kind of like vitali only sturm got robbed.

Yes, the Reid fight destroyed his reputation. And rightfully so. He should be remembered as a fraud. But he should be judged by what he has done. And that´s beating more contenders than his rival, usually before him and unifying two belts. The Ring ranked Ottke above Calzaghe when both were active. I don´t know if Joe C. was actually the better fighter. Ottke was, outside of Hopkins, the best spoiler of the last 20 years and he did some things very well.

You know, judging a fighter on emotion makes no sense, I don´t like that guy, but when you want to judge him you´ve got to be neutral, or as neutral as you can be.

Zbik would be an easier fight for him than Sylvester was - that was a pretty good performance by Sturm, nearly made me a fan. Yes, Sturm should either fight Golovkin or Martinez. I agree. I´d love to see him unify with Martinez. I think he has a decent chance there, although he certainly wouldn´t be the fav. But I can understand that he doesn´t, even so I don´t like it. I don´t defend that kind of behaviour. But what I don´t like is the double-standard here. Sturm isn´t the only one who does that but quite often when the fighter is a Brit or American he gets away with it. When it´s a fighter of another country he is "fake champ".

if the tv company doesn't have boxing people in charge this always happens. ABC boys will approve anything, as long they get payed.

Thank god for HBO and showtime, they know there power and they use it. do you think this fight would be happening on HBO or Showtime, it would be Williams, martinez, or one of the other title holder may be. or nothing.

The problem aren´t the TV people but the viewers. As long as millions turn in to his fights, I think his last one did 12 million or something, the TV company gets its money from advertisement. Why should they change anything. It´s all about money. That´s sh*t but that´s how it works.

Some of you guys are under the wrong impression: Sturm is no boxer, he works full time in the risk management business. And he does an excellent job at that.

It was 5,27 million. 12 million is Klitschko territory. Nobody comes close to the Klits.

Not true. Abraham had around that number against Taylor. The Klitschkos have more than that most of the time anyway. I think I read that number in the "BILD am Sonntag" - yeah I´m ashamed reading that but the sports part is usually pretty good.
