He deserves a catch weight in my opinion because its not like he's fought a top ten in that weight class, had a few tune ups, settling in real nice, he is jumping to fight THE BEST in the division.

    Most likely fighting in October.
    When is Ward fighting again?

Why not just have a re-hydration clause for Ward, and leave it at that? That's the easiest way to ensure that Ward isn't [i[that[/i] much bigger than GGG come fight time.

Doesnt really matter what ward wants, to be honest. Hes no shot caller and it doesnt seem like team G really wants to fight him anyways.

    That's almost certainly true.

But surely HBO wants to get both Ward and GGG into big fights, and them facing off is a fight that makes sense from their (HBO's) perspective.

I wonder how much influence they have if any negotiations are taking place.

HBO wants Ward to build his brand some more and let the fight grow. He's not a big enough draw right now; therefore, the fight is not big enough. Let Ward get his situation in order. By then, Golovkin will probably have beat Canelo and/or Lemieux as well.

I don't buy any of that for a second.

HBO has vested interest in both boxers, and it's probably the biggest fight HBO can reasonably make at present. It would also help build up Ward-Kovalev, and after Golovkin gets outclassed, maybe a Cotto or Canelo will be more apt to face him when he ventures back down.

Biggest also means most expensive, which means they'd really rather stick it on PPV instead.

That way, PPV pays the purses, rather than HBO needing to eat the 5 million (Or more) it'd cost them to put it on regular HBO.

Ward won't take a pay cut, and GGG won't take less than 50/50 against Ward- that's 4 million right there. 4 million only works if you believe Andre will take the same purse he accepted to fight Paul Smith.

That's probably not going to happen.

It's simple math to see this fight is too big for regular HBO.

Is it really too big for HBO? And is the math really that simple in terms of the factors going in? HBO typically pays the entire purse of both fighters for HBO cards? And that's all there is to it? They just eat that money all by themselves?

If we want to see fair fight, it should happen at 164. If we want to see GGG win, fight should be at 160. If we want to see Ward win, fight should be at 168.

Fight will not be for titles because it´s obvious GGG wants to unify 160 and Ward wants to stay 168-172. So fight at 164 is ok to me. If they fight for the titles they should fight at 160 or 168.

Ward will never fight GGG or KOV his just gonna milk roc nation till they're dry and then injure himself again.Me thinks team GGG just said the 164 cw just to fukk Team ward off..word on the street waz that ward was asking main events for a cw for kov...GGG team found out and played them at there own game....ward is toxic, promoters and managers don't trust him...even when he signs on to fight his still not a certainty he won't injure himself s few days before the weigh in...
