For his fight against Cerrone Fox, recent knockout victim of Tua. Good weight, 10 off his last fight and only three or four off peak. Funny how much this comeback has paralleled his one in 2004 so far. A couple stoppage wins and a title eliminator by March and it would be virtually the same gameplan... Burning question is why Rahman got so blobby once again. I know defeats are demoralizing but Rahman really seems to hit Pizza Hut hard when he loses a big one.
Rahman needs to lose weight somehow, might as well stay active till he can land a big fight. Would love to see him face McCline on HBO/Showtime the winner could get his final title shot.
Damon, thanks for the news on his weight. I was wondering about that. You and I both wonder why Rahman got so overweight after that loss to Maskaev. If he would have been 240 against Sykes, he probably would have won by KO instead of uninspiring decision. Boxrec has him listed as a fight in Rochester, NY on November 15. I know Boxrec can jump the gun on things like that, but if it's true, your instincts about Rahman attempting a repeat of his 2004 comeback might be right. Any decent heavyweight out there should stay in shape and ready to fight. You never know when you might get an opportunity like the one McCline got against Peter.
Damon,I was thinking the same thing about the '04 comeback. I wanted to see him fight Klitschko, thought he would beat Maskaev, but came up short. I think he's just lazy and doesn't train hard at all when he gets so heavy. He's a real big guy as it is,so when he's overweight it's shows and looks bad. With the heavyweight situation, if he keeps this up, he could get another shot. Ranked #3 WBC for whatever...
Good news for Rahman and his fans...he's staying active and is serious about getting into good shape.
I think Rock should call it a day. How many people can say that they were undisputed heavyweight champion of the world even if it didn't last very long? Fom April to November of 2001 Hasim Rahman could eat free in any restaraunt and skip to the front of any line. Just take the memories and retire.
I dont know if I agree with that. I know it seems like the Rock has been around forever, but he's only 34. He can still make some good money in the fight game, and given his name, he could get another title shot. Better for him to make some money and set himself up for retirement rather than try to comeback and squeeze in some wins to get one last decent payday at the age of 39 like Michael Moorer and Riddick Bowe.
If he's fighting no-hopers and accumulating paychecks it's ok I guess. It's his life. If he wants to get knocked silly again that's his choice. Moorer isn't in bad financial shape. He's ok.
Moorer's not fighting because he needs the money? Are you sure about that? Because he's a guy, much more than Rahman I think, who has no shot of winning and title and is more at risk of getting hurt.
Rahman has about the same punch resistance as Sam Peter. Execpt Rahman has actually won a belt in the ring.
You gotta be kidding me!! Peter got knocked DOWN, not right the f*ck out of the ring. When Peter gets laid out cold as many times as Rahman's been, then you MIGHT have an argument.:yep
