So I just spoke to my main man Chauncy Welliver, and he said that Hasim Rahman's people called his people up today and offered him the fight against Rahman in NZ on the Tua/Cameron undercard. The shitty thing is that they only offered him 5,000NZD. So he didn't take the fight.

So true.:-( I tried to talk Chauncy into taking the fight though, lol. Rahman always shows up in terrible shape for comeback fights and if he was recently on walking sticks, this is a very winnable fight for Chauncy and it would really boost him up in the rankings if he won. The only downside is the small payday. But if he beat Rahman, much larger paydays are within grasp.

The media was alluding to Kali Meehan for this gig.

Looks like Rahman's opponent is far from finalised, but the bout's not til Oct 3. They'll have more chance of a quality opponent if they offer a fair reward.

Nowhere near finalization. Chauncy is the perfect opponent for a Rahman comeback. He has a good record (some say only paper wise, and I'll go with that) and is a name in NZ. They love him over there, you guys should know this. Kali Meehan will be too much for Rahman for a first comeback bout. Chauncy is perfect. I really believe he could pull off this upset.

Massive reward for Chauncy if he lands that fight. A win puts him in contention for some big paydays. Sometimes the risk is worth more than the reward. I won't knock him for not taking it though.

Exactly what I am trying to tell him. This fight would set him up real good in his next fight if he wins. He would be boosted so much higher in the rankings, which means much larger paydays.
