you hit the nail on the head.

    working up - in stages.

that's what it's about. it keeps adamek busy, keeps him learning at the heavier weight, and hopefully adds to his ranking, hopefully brings in some decetn TV money and adds to his profile.

evander holyfield's first 2 heavyweight fights were a pinklon thomas who could barely lift his arms, and what, adilson rodriguez or james tillis?? evander didn't stagnate, he learned in stages...

given that adamek had just had a fight, they were never going to be able to get a brilliant opponent for february. if he's fighting every 3 months this could be a god learning curve. don't be surprised if he lands some kind of tough eliminator type of fight by the middle of next year.

re the whining that toney should be the opponent. toney would be good basically to get ppl talking, because he can create such chaos BEFORE a fight. and because he has a great career. but he doesn't have too much left.

you could say the same for rahman, but at least he brings natural HEAVY weight, as opposed to toney, who did a combination of bulking up, and overeating. rahman's natural size will give adamek something to think about. while rahman lost to wlad, toney lost to peter (pretty badly in rematch). rahman and toney drew with each other, so it's a big stretch to say toney is better.

it's the heavyweight division. if adamek fought blown up cruisers like toney, then ppl would surely whine about that, too.
