Eh, premature in my opinion. Sure he was way behind and not doing much, but come on. I'm sick of these fights always getting stopped like that, Rahman wasn't seriuosly hurt. Just because he's losing badly doesnt mean he cant do something exciting.

How do you guys feel? Do you feel like fights are stopped a lot earlier these days then they once were? Is it good or bad?

i thought Rahman was going to get hurt if the ref would let Klit beat him down, by the end it wasnt even boxing, it was just a man punching a guy who couldnt defend himself.

Absolutely. And years ago, boxing fans woulda been up in arms about it. Today's feminized boxing fans complain when fights AREN'T stopped.

They should have let it go until Rahman hit the deck out cold. He's always good for that.

I thought it was a slightly premature stoppage.
Rock wasn't going to win anyway. But the ref should have let it go just a bit farther to see If he truly could not defend himself.

premature? dude would have ended up braindamaged after a few more rounds. those jabs were snapping hasim's head back. wlad really never loaded up the right hand.

it was a televised light sparring session. this is all povetkin fault though.

    Rahman was doing nothing.

If you stand there for seven rounds just letting the other guy punch you in the face you can't be suprised when the referee stops it.

Rahman turned up to lose, referee read the situation exactly.

To be fair to the ref, he did say at the end of the round before that if Rahman just took punches again he would stop the fight and you could see Wlad was about to unload and Rahman was going into his shell. There's no need for him to take the punishment, especially at his age. There's been worse stoppages.

I felt the stoppage was fine.

Zakman - do you think we should go back to the days of 20 round fights, and seemlingly no stoppages unless the guy was down for a ten count?

    Serious Q btw

Thought the stoppage was fine, Rahman had barely thrown a punch for the last 2 rounds (last 6 rounds arguably, arf) and leaning in a corner taking hooks to the head is going to get you stopped.

Because the last thing Boxing needs is a dude dying after getting pounded in the head for 10 rounds.
