Rahman is a good fight for Haye to properly start his HW campaign , he could add some good things to the division
Oh, I'm certainly not arguing that Haye's chin is anything to write home about - it's just that it doesn't appear to be as bad as Rahman's. You could write Haye's loss to Thompson off as a Joe Louis-like early career "fluke." Rahman, on the other hand, has been starched so many times it would take an entire dissertation to write that off!
4 times. Rahman's been starched 4 times. Twice by Maskaev (heavy punch), once by Lewis (heavy punch), once by Tua (you get the idea). My point remains. Rahman has been knocked down and knocked out by genuine heavyweights, with genuine heavyweight power. Haye has been decked by cruisers. Unless you wanna talk up Lolanga Mock or whatever he was called as a huge HW puncher. I want all the best for Haye, but this Rahman chin stuff gets out of hand...
Win-win situation for Haye. He wins, he's beaten a big fish (even if his days are gone, it's still a big name). He loses, he's lost his first HW fight to a former champion.
Rahman was rocked by Tarus "The Bull" Sykes, the same fighter that was destroyed by Sam Peter in a couple rounds. Rahmans chin is probably just as bad as Hayes, but after this match we might get a little idea of whos chin is worse.
I don't get this ridiculous over the top slating of Rahmans chin either...he managed to beat Corrie Sanders, he had two fights with Tua and was stopped late in one and fought to a draw in the other, he was not KO'd by Holyfield and yes he has been starched twice really...by big hitters, one a monster punch from Lewis who hit very very hard. How does someone with the most awful glass jaw in history (as some of you are saying) fight to a draw with Tua and win over 7 rounds against Sanders?
Haye v Rahman is a risky fight.. Rahman has a good rapport with Britain, he was one of the first WBU champs and fought against a mexican in Liverpool when he was just a mere prospect... He had good connections with the UK because of Jon Robinson and the WBU and Ced Kushner.. He would give a good account of himself...
Sanders had him down, and if he was is in any kind of shape would have finishied him off.:yep Rahman's chin is among the worst I have seen among rated fighters in the HW division in my 30 years of following boxing - far worse than Wlad Klitschko, who gets rapped for it all the time, even though he's never been utterly KTFO like Rahman has, multiple times!atsch Haye is no George Chuvalo, don't misunderstand me. But his chin look positively sturdy compared to Rahman's, and after he annihilates this china-chinned joke, I want people to admit, once and for all, that Rahman's chin is every bit as bad as many of us have said all along. I'll add that I pegged Rahman's glass jaw BEFORE he got taken out by Tua, just watching him fight nobodies on HW explosion and getting shook up.
amongst boxing fans he's big news. casual fans only know hatton, khan and now are aware of calzaghe. haye is a nobody in british sport, sad really, the guy is world CW champ. there's no doubt he can be a star though. exciting style whether he's being KO'd or wasting his opponent, good looking bloke, looks after himself and a nice dude to go with it. he's very media friendly and at ease in front of the cameras.
To be honest, not really. The casual fan would barely know who David Haye is, i know alot of my mates who were watching Hatton vs. Mayweather had no clue who he was.
Both guys here have a shaky chin, but Rahman is pretty much done and he was never that good to begin with, Haye should win this fight by early KO but it is a VERY risky fight to take for his 2nd HW fight.
Thanks, mate, for the info! I wonder how the hell Haye's promoter will be able to spend big bucks on well known opponents if Haye is no big draw in his native England! A fighter like Rahman wont travel to England for a handful of peanuts facing a very good local puncher who has a decent chance to stop him!
Haye doesn't not need to move up to the heavyweight division. I think this fight is a mistake and is way too big of an opponent too quickly. With all that being said, I think that he still has a good chance of beating an aging Rahman. This is not a fight to bet on because there are way too many unknowns. What does Rahman have left? Did Rahman train properly? Can Haye take a punch at heavyweight? Does Haye have the skills to outbox someone as big as Rahman? My prediction Haye SD10 Rahman
