By the sounds of things, he might as well have stayed fat, at least that way he would have kept his muscle. Considering all this talk about him being off and getting old, the added muscle loss wont do him any favours.I hope this isnt what has happend to Toney, however he still has top skills so maybe he might win.
Toney being fat was never a problem for me, ive seen guys that looked horrible but had good stamina, id rather he came in heavy and strong then light and weakened, like bowe did for the second golota fight, he looked so weak. btw- conditioner, do you have something to do with the rahman camp?
Toney 226, Rahman 244 This content is protected James "Lights Out" Toney (70-6-3, 43 KOs) looked to be in good shape for Wednesday night's "Last Chance" showdown against Hasim "The Rock" Rahman (45-6-2, 36 KOs) at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula, California. Toney weighed 226, his lowest weight since 2003. Rahman weighed 244.
This content is protected Toney is not 226, seriously the man is not 226 if anything Rock is 226 and Toney is 244
I am Rahmans strength and conditioning coach. I know many will say my judgment might be biased because I work with Rahman. Well, I am biased in that I want Rock to win, but that's where my bias begins and ends. From a professional stand point Toney looks like a guy who lost a drmatic amount of weight in a short amount of time and did so not by fat loss but by sacrificing muscle. He had hanging fat in his midsection, looked dry, and flat. Also taking into account being off the steroids. Which presents a set of problems all in its own.
He was down to 237 in camp, but he looked a little flat at that weight. He is not in his 20's anymore, and I don't see him at 230 ever again for a fight. He got real low for Holyfield and that was by far his worst performance. If you saw Rock face to face you would agree that 230 is to light. He is huge. He is the definition of big boned. Just a huge heavy frame. I am aiming for 240 lbs in his next fight should he beat Toney.
dont get me wrong im not a trainer and rahman has a huge frame and can carry roughly 240 but in a fight like this i expected him lighter. maybe he plans on leaning on toney a lot? anyway i still think rahman is focused. he knows he wins this. he may gte a title shot and if not is another stay busy fight away from one
rahman was 227 in the holy fight cause bouie probably had him eating right. i mean this guy fought tua the first time in his 220's right? i thought rahman looked fine in the holy fight. had that hematoma not gotten him the fight was close. those 2 judges who had it 6-1 for holy were smoking. it was 5-2 or 4-3 in holy's favor thats a loss i bet rahman would love to avenge
No, no nutritionist. He eats clean during camp. I don't emphasize weight to much. I emphasize being in shape. The weight loss is a natural by product of hard work. Rock boxed 150 rounds in 5 weeks. He boxed 12 rounds 4 times with a fresh guy rotated in every 4 rounds. We had all young fast guys. We did not use old washed up guys for sparring partners.
That's what I was thinking. They've mistakenly gotten the weights reversed! No way does Toney look 226. Fat as hell, as usual.
He was 227 because the only thing Bouie knew how to do with him was have him spar. According to Rock he sparred 6 days a week. He told me he had nothing against Holyfield.
