big boned is an urban legend term...,very rarely a real thing.he does have a good frame and some huge long arms tough but 230 is attainable his waist looks bigger and when the core is carry extra weight its harder to rotate..,and boxing is all about rotating.., he looked physically fine vs.holy i was ringside he just had the wrong plan and was getting countered to death..,
well his nothing looked pretty solid. i guess if he had something he would have steam rolled him. i thought he looked good even in the loss
His last day of sparring he boxed 12 rounds. Averaging 83 punches around and finishing the 12th round by throwing 127 punches. The problem heavyweights have when they fight Toney is that they get it in there head that they are the bigger stronger guy and that they can just overwhelm James with there size and strength. So then they go inside and try an outfight one of the best inside fighters that was ever born. You have to box James and not allow him to lay on the ropes where he can rest his legs and counterpunch you to death.
I am not gonna argue. I know him personally, and I know my job. He frame is huge. His hands are huge. Even his wrists are big. 9.5 inches. As for making that weight at this age. No way. If he did it would be detrimental to his ability to perform.
people have always dogged rahmans stamina but ive seen many fight where he was thrown a LOT of punches. i think in the tua rematch he threw like 85 jabs in a round. he threw like 800 punches versus lawrence even though he looked tired. over 1000 punches versus toney the first time. thats a lot of activity. i hope he brings it tomorrow he is one of my fav HW's since ive followed the sport
Matt Godfrey. Travis Kauffman. Joey Dawejko, and for one week Kelvin Davis but he had to be sent home after being dropped 8 times in 2 two days. The last knockdown being so severe that he got up and fell down 4 times from one punch.
yeah i'm no expert and his conditioner obviously is the pro, but you gotta think that even at 35 less fat/mass would help as long as rahman got there in a healthy manner. He was 245 also vs Lawrence and he just wasn't very effective, got tired easily, etc.
ill respectfully disagree..,holys still the same weight an hes 45 not 35..,he would need to do a precamp conditioing program..,like toney did for jirov..,and then he wont fade late..,15 extra pounds of fat is alot to carry in the 10th 11th and 12th rounds mate..,and toney was 35 when he melted down for jirov.., im sure his wrist and frame were big when he was in his 220's.his blowing up and coming way down 224 for holy 261 for tua hurts him..,he should be no more than 230..,the extra weight tells on your reflexes espically in the later rounds..,makes it so you can slip and return.., i understand your dilema though if ya only have him for eight weeks..., boxers today:huh ..,all in all the rock could be more professional..,always liked the cat though funny character.
im in the same profession as he is..,and extra weight is never positive..,hell the rock might be farther from his best weight than toney in this fight...,might have to drop some coin on this now..,
You are right in your analysis of the Zuri fight. We took that fight on short notice with only two weeks to prepare, and thats when I found you need to keep a short leash on Rock or he does things like go run 7 miles on the day b4 n day of the weighin to get his weight down. Thisn is the first time I got some real time to work with Rock. He took his weight off gradually and the results showed in his perfomances in his workouts and sparring. Now its just time to fight. Thats all that really counts. I am very optomistic.
you missed the point mate..,whatever was good before is good now..,hell look at bhops.he was 160 til he was 42.., getting fat will kill ya in boxing..,
i think if rahman can get a W someone who has a title will fight him. whether its wlad or the valuev ruiz winner. or he just has another stay busy fight till he can maybe get peter
