If you remember the Rahman fight only came about because Povetkin did his ankle in. I don't think there were many credibly opponents about at the time who would have taken the fight on short notice. The difference with Haye is that he could fight almost anyone in the division at this point

Its hard to see where he goes now. I think he is in a position where he's forced to take a risk with his next fight, even his biggest sackswingers will question him if he fights another old guy with no power. I think he should probably just take the Chagaev fight now. He wont take a harder fight than that IMO

A perfect match for the retiring Haye....... It will erase all question marks regarding David's spell in HW......

Gaye did not want to fight Rahman. You must have forgotten soemthing. It was Rahman who called out Gaye. At that time Kirk Johnson called out Gaye as well. Gaye ended up fighting Monte Barrett. Of course he always chooses the less possible resistance. It is his trade mark.

By the way it was not for his debut because of the Bonin fight.

Yes, I am talking about the very same Kingpin Johnson who Gaye refused to fight even though he was completely untested at that time. Instead Gaye is fighting the Mighty Monte Barrett who got KOed in one by Cliff Couser.

For the time Vitali has fought Gomez, Arreola, Johnson and Sosnowski, Gaye fights only twice. Some of those fights were made only because Gaye bitched out of the fight with Vitaliy KlitschKO.

Rahman is finished. Haye would take him out pretty easily at this point.

At this point Gaye's list of possible fights should be like this:
Audley Harrison - the first choice without a doubt
Nikolay Valuev - that's the front runner
Kali Meehan - he is old enough and WBA ranked/Don King involved
Bernard Hopkins - let use the Golden Boy connection here

That's what makes the fight quite possible.

I think that you are lucky that it was deleted for Gaye ducked Kingpin when he was something like 14-0 - completely untested yet very dangerous for the brave Gaye.

Waste of time & lose/lose situation for Haye.
On one hand you have another washed up former champ who he should defeat...
But being HW's anything can happen with one punch, Why chance it.
+ Rahman don't deserve a shot, Not after what he pulled in the Toney fight.

    I'd pass.
