His last 5 bouts have been over 154 lbs, so him not being on weight for a non title bout is to really be expected.
Cali wants their money.....would GBP have to pay that 2500 and replace 2500 for Rainmaker? If that is the case, Cali sucks. We need to have a much better list set up for traveling fighters than the ABC has which only covers the medicals. We need to have a list of states that fine fighters at a high rate, deny paying fighter purses at a high rate, and also any instances of fighters being written hot checks. There is a huge difference in a fighter taking a 10 grand purse in 1 state vs another. It would be a great resource for the journeyman boxer to be able to refrence something comprehensive on, where are and where are not, the best places to take a fight, with money being equal.
Point taken. But at the end of the day, though, he still did not make the contracted weight? Correct? :huh I mean if it's to be expected, then why sign for the fight in the first place? Especially if you know you can't (or probably won't) make weight, which means you know you would be fined? Perhaps he wasn't slacking off in training, but him not making weight and subsequently being fined--how is that NOT his fault, either way you look at it? I see your point on the previous fights' weight, but in response to the post I originally quoted, I still don't see how Golden Boy is to be blamed. Either way, I was still interested in seeing the fight myself. Too bad it no longer seems to be happening.
The question really should be, is why would you make a 154 non title bout with someone that had only made 154 3 times out of 30 professional bouts. It's a non title bout with a fighter who has not won a big world stage bout. Makes zero sense. You make a bout you know the guy is unlikely to make weight for, and was taking cause he can only get those type of risky bouts if he wants to make any money.
He took training very serious this time ! The sparring partner was a fast lefty with a 100 something amateur fights, eat right pushed it harder everyday and kept the whores on a down low ,I would say that Raines was gonna be the best conditioned athlete that Lara ever fought as a pro.But when you tell somebody they will have the whole day before the weigh in to prep for Weight lose and they dont get it , Because they are in a car all day ,Well when they are coming from light Heavy its kind of Hard, The bottom is this , I have two contracts that Golden Boy has not cared to honor ,I just look at as they should have honored it and then Raines would be showing up to the fight here in a few hours !I am betting at 5 PM PST They will be wishing they did !
give the guy his scrilla. he's playing a sacrificial lamb for chrisake, least they can do is pay the man right.
Is it not his managers job to make sure these things dont happen? Why was he in a car all day instead of weight loss? Who takes responsibility for that. Raines seems like a good kid, this is too bad, another blow. He should be concentrating on the fight, not these stupid details.
I mad a promise to my kid after the Hearns fight ." No more switching the gloves" and if the great Golden Boy promotion thought they deserved to get even more of an edge over us than they already have by these BS tactics well they were dead wrong !And it cost em severally.
Just take Raines to the fight and let him loose. Get revenge by having him go in there and smash Lara. Walk right in and kick Lara in the balls. Then turn around and walk out. If you are going to give up the whole purse, do it with some style.
Well he is his own manager , But I help him out the best I can . But what was I to do. I told them we were gonna stay in LA and wait on the Vinyl suit that was in our lost bags , That were to arrive at 5:00 PM WEDS, I told them once we made weight they could take us on to Indio , They called security on us and threw us out of the rooms. So a 5 PM Wednesday when are bags finally arrived in LA we were on our way to Indio which is a 2 hour trip from LA or more. They delivered our bag at 2:00 AM the morning of the Weigh in. Now Raines still lost 8 ponds that night with out his equipment . But trying to make weight after driving around all day doing medicals. and stressing trying to get em to wait on his weight loss stuff,Took it out of him !
wtf...am i really reading this **** punching bag or not, he is still in a professional sport and should follow the rules like everybody else.....you dont get a free pass cause people expect you to lose, in fact he should've worked harder to actually "try" and win..........
I agree just because they are the Golden Boys dont mean they can write out contracts and not honor them ! Very Good point !:good
