I can't believe people are saying it's a non-issue. He came in over the contracted weight, so has to pay the penalty. God Damn, this is a great precedent to set. Max weight is X, but X + 1.5 is okay if it's a non-title fight.

Also, they don't weigh in on $15 scales from Wal-Mart. These scales are calibrated regularly to makes sure they are right on.

Ok so we fine them 4 K for not honoring their part of the contract ,
That if they would have honored of course we would have had no problem
with the weight !And as soon as the give us our money its on :good Does that
    sound good ? LOL

So the rules dont apply to tomato cans because "they are there to lose anyway"???

So I guess we should let them take steriods and load there gloves to since they are at such a disadvantage.

If you dont follow the rules you will be punished. This isnt a game of bowling where you can put the bumpers in the gutters just because one player isnt as good as the other. If you dont think you can win and you dont follow the rules dont take the fight.

So they should be able to write anything on the contract and not honor it ,
But we should have to even when what they did not honor was the reason we did not make weight , Yea right , U r silly

When did you find out about the glove switch? Before or after the weigh in?

yeah the scales at the weigh in which some guys have access to

the amount of times I have heard of away boxers coming to the promotors hotel and find after all the stay, that the scales they was given was off, ...fights far more bigger than this

cut raines slack this is real world, the guys doing it the hard way

he was almost certainly gonna take a beating for peanuts on live tv

do they really need to take 20% of his low low purse for a glasss of water in weight

    gimme a break

Raines fought Joe Greene.....when Raines came a similar amount over, their team said screw it. ESPN FNF card.

But....after Raines beat Greene's arse in the 7th and 8th round of their bout, they wished that they had made him go drain and were glad the fight was not for 10 or 12 rounds.

It goes both ways....as a manager of a top guy, you should be doing your all to protect him and give him advantages as well.

i feel bad for the fans that traveled to see lara fight...instead got shafted by a guy crying over a ****en room......raines should've had his people take care of the stressful ****, while another stayed with him and focused on losing the weight......

This is another example of the bad work dome by The Muhammed Ali Boxing Act.....Self management is about the worst thing a fighter can do. The real old school professionals took care of their guys all the way around. But the Ali Act has taken away the incentives to manage and promote a guy in the 10-12 round fights. Will still allow you to do it in the novice categories, but when your guy is capable of being a draw and fight for some titles, you can no longer both manage and promote him on your show. You almost have to give your guy away...and that is why the club fight circuit is dead. The f'd up mandates are killing this sport.
