    From Tuesday's Daily Mail:

Frank ******’s BoxNation TV channel has been put on a much firmer financial footing with the arrival on the board of steel tycoon Bill Ives, a major Tory Party donor and huge boxing fan. Also becoming a director is ******’s promoter son George.

Apparently Bill Ives is worth 266 million. He has also been a huge supporter of Kevin Mitchell.

Good news this, hopefully having a rich backer like this will help BoxNation improve and get a bigger budget.

People who said it wouldn't last a year must be feeling like idiots now. Although it had a rough start it really sounds as if BN is finding it's feet now. It's still losing money but I've heard that the number has decreased a lot over the past year because of sponsorships deals and increasing subscribers.

    :)

BoxNation will survive because it is being funded by people with deep pockets but lets be clear about this; the stable has struggled in the past year or so, and it will continue to do so.

People continue to talk about the investors in the company, but does that help the fighters, who have had to fight in the ring and then fight for their money outside it? Billy Joe Saunders was said to have got a group of lads together and gone to the Frank offices in order to receive the money he had earned. How many other fighters haven't been paid? How many fighters are pissed off that they get absolutely no exposure? BoxNation is in a better place now than it was 6 months ago but it's still a flawed business idea which will struggle to be profitable.

The issues it faces are clear. There is no source of mainstream exposure for the channel. You can have the most entertaining fighters in the world but if nobody knows about them, how will that 'entertainment' turn into 'money'? If a young fighter like Gavin or Saunders were on Sky, they'd be building their profile nicely but on BoxNation, that can't happen. The only people who are aware of these fighters and watch their bouts are the hardcore fans. Casual fans don't have a clue who they are, because they aren't going to pay money to see fighters who they aren't interested in. If Frank had BoxNation for the start of Naseem's or Hatton's careers, neither of those two would have been big stars because they wouldn't have got mainstream exposure. That's why neither Burns or Cleverly, Frank's only two 'world champions' :)lol:) can sell a ticket in their own home town. Nobody knows who these fighters are.

What BoxNation need to do is get more exposure. If they can, great, the channel will become better than it is and could be profitable. However, if they can't, they'll continue to tap into a niche market without making any real success of it, despite who the backers are. No matter how much money the investors have, it's not going to automatically bring casual fans in and that needs to change.

Good points Jack....Ive said for a while they should get a deal to show highlights a week or so later, on a terrestrial channel
