This guy was a longtime prison champion of sorts & multiple sources have stated that he knocked Mike Tyson out/down in an off-the-books 10 rounder during Tyson's stint in prison. Sadly, he never translated the same success to the pros. So how good was he? He was a big guy (6'5) by all reports & actually very skilled. Could he have attained something like Amir Mansour has now? Really looking forward to your comments, I will read all of them.
Agree he may have been a legend in urban communities, especially urban youths as he fought his way out of what some deem a corrupt criminal justice/prison system - i"m posing the hypothetical about what he could have accommplished had he not gone to jail or perhaps got started with a pro career. Just put your comments below, in this thread
As far as I know there was no Rakim Oaks that beat up Tyson in some mythical prison battle. From what I read, Tyson was pretty popular while he was locked up and only got into one fight which ended in about 15 seconds. To think some prison con is going to take a young Tyson is ludicrous.
Ive heard he had an excellent jab, and was able to fight well on the outside making it difficult for Tyson to engage. He could have been as good as Harold Johnson but at HW
Possibly the greatest of all time. Was kept down by 'the man'. Still locked up, but imparting his boxing knowledge to a new generation of prison pugilists.
Made Tyson his wife while in prison. And then beat his azz in the ring as well. I recall years back that a boxer was allowed to fight in prison (James "Hard Rock" Green?). I don't see why we can't get an Oakes-Fury fight lined up.
Sorry...I'm off that site until the old farts die off. You know who I'm talking about....the ones who fap to photos of Harry Greb.
