What a stupid and biased article. Who cares if those guys didn't take up the challenge of rolling around with men in tights. I mean seriously, we boxing fans would scrutinized Mayweather, pacquia or even marquez, for calling out let's say bj Penn or whatever that guys name is, to a strictly boxing match. We know it would be no more than a circus act , yet most ufc fans actually think Toney going in there actually won them some accolades. Not by real fans of either sport. Now, is true? Most likely. But relevant? Not at all.

well, I mean, $1M to try it, hell I would, but I doubt RJJ would last 30 secs. in the ring with a Gracie

Tell the Gracies to fight someone trained in there displiine, instead of looking for publicity stunts against.

    Guy....
if Keith Hackney gave Royce Gracie fits in their fight.... you think Jones couldn't?

Royce's comment after that fight: "I've never been hit that hard in my life".
And Hackney was using arm punches.

Royce and Renzo do not have good take down. They want to pull you into their guard.
A boxer would have a much better chance against that approach.

Also - the 1 million dollars was either a lie by the Gracies or whoever ran that story.

They did not have that kind of money to throw around (certainly not on a minute by minute basis).
It was an empty threat solely for the purpose of promoting BJJ.

    Also,
Those gym war videos that Rorion Gracie would do the voice over for - those were obviously editted and cherry picked.
It's been well established in the bjj community that the Gracies did indeed lose some of their challenges. But you think that stuff is going to be put in the video?

    Come on.

    Oh wait...
that article is written by Jake Rossen.
Rossen is well known for spewing bull****.

    Rossen, you're too dumb....
Ray Mercer, James Warring, Laverne Clark (who KOd Shonie Carter), Stephane Oullett, Melton Bowen, Michael Lerma, Mighty Mo (boxer by trade.... never was a trained kick boxer), Jeremy Williams..... all have tried mma with varying degrees of success.

Laverne Clark was successful during a time (pre-Dana White) when fighters were NOT given incentives to keep fights standing. Because the UFC was quickly realizing that if grappling by itself was so popular.... then there'd be a venue for pure grappling on ESPN. And guess what? It's not.

Ralph is not Renzo or Royce, he is a bulldog takedown, all action fighter.

It wouldn't have taken more than at most 2 minutes, and the PPV sales would have covered it.

Keep in mind this was also in 1995, RJJ would have had nobody to teach him even the basics that Toney had; he would have totally panicked once Ralph got mount.

Ralph and Ryan were always the most fun Gracies to watch

And Rossen is terrible, I can understand his stuff being accepted by Sherdog, but I would hope ESPN had highr journalistic standards

I just read the part where Lennox turned down a fight with Brock Lesnar that Vince Mcmahon offered, and turned it down.... and Rossen acts like HE WAS SCARED!!!:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:patsch:patsch:p

Granted Brock has proven his worth as a MMA guy, but seriously? ****ing seriously? Could you imagine if 2002 how bad the media would have evicerated Lennox if he had announced his next fight against, "WWF champion Brock Lesnar!":yikes:rofl

    KIddo....
    you're delusional.

The way you blather over mma fighters is actually disturbing.
No offense in saying this (and seriously..... no offense), but you do come across as some dude who has a fetish for grapplers. The way you talk about them and hype them up.... it's weird.

If you're into that stuff, whatever.... but just be straight forward about it.
You like watching guys in speedos (barefoot guys) grapple with each other.
Now, no one's going to lie.... that is some very gay ****. But if that's you.... fine, have at it.
You take such great offense that others disagree with you. And I don't doubt there's some sexual element to it.
No one can say with a straight face that there isn't homosexual tendencies amongst some of these over the top mma fans. Who border on veneration for their favorite fighters.

To your point - no.... PPV sales would not generate crap for this fight.
No one knew the Gracies. Certainly not your love interest, Ralph Gracie. The guy you have a man-foot fetish over.

And as much as you get stiff over the idea of your boyfriend 'conquering' another man on the mat - it doesn't mean that reality will follow your fantasies.

    You're an odd duck.
A very, very odd.... disturbing... duck

I get the shivers thinking of your excitement in typing that.
Guy, ease off with this ****. Damn.

"totally panicked" once Ralph mounted him???? Wow.
I know you had your drawers dropped while typing that.

We know what kind of "fun" you're talking about.
    Freak.
