Ramadan Hiseni vs. Serginio Kanters, 10 rounds @ middleweight

Round 1

Kanters testing out Hiseni's defenses with high swatting left hooks at the head delivered from a crouch, and probing body jabs interspersed between while circling. Hiseni similarly appears to be studying Kanters' offensive habits, biding his time, waiting to pick his spots. In the second minute Hiseni begins to lay down some jabs and chopping rights on the backfoot as though paving a road crisscrossing the ring. More stalking and wild hooking up from a crouch by Kanters, but nothing getting through.

Massive crowd support for Hiseni. From listening you'd think he dominated the opener; he didn't.

 

Round 2

Hiseni is backed into the corner as Kanters unloads a catapult lead overhand right into his chest. Hiseni counters down the middle with backhanded jabs and straight or clubbing rights while standing up tall & erect. Kanters is keeping a low center of gravity and pawing his way in with an erratic dagger-like jab. Hiseni buries a jab on Kanters' belt line and retreats into a corner where Kanters traps him with a grazing triple left hook against the brow as Hiseni leans into the padded turnbuckle and twists away, raising his arms protectively to help deflect.

Round 3

Hiseni now able to come forward behind the jab for spells, quickly reverting to a trot in the opposite direction when Kanters begins slinging hooks at him pushing up off that rear heel for extra propulsion. The referee has to get in the midst of them and warn for general roughhousing. Kanters matching Hiseni's output as they continue trading offensive turns, but Hiseni a bit sharper with the jab than Kanters is with any of his roaming power shots.

Round 4

Hiseni keeps unrolling the jab and dropping a right hand in behind it, and now has expanded the combination with a step-in left hook on the body. Kanters is backed all the way from one side of the ring to another, only able to nick Hiseni with a few oblique counter body shots of his own. Hiseni tosses his jab between Kanters' gloves and into his face while leading him in a semicircle into a neutral corner, staying just beyond his reach.

Round 5

Hiseni cutting the ring off with diagonal steps inside, marching Kanters down with the jab and then ripping him with a two-fisted uppercut attack in close. Kanters shies away upon taking a long right hand upside the head. Kanters is keeping his distance, only creeping within a full leg's breadth of Hiseni and even then lobbing just one high sweeping left hook before scuttling away. Hiseni catches a leaping hook on the back of his right arm, then pushes Kanters off in a reset. Another leaping hook by Kanters, rolls off the back of Hiseni's neck and leaves the attacker off-position. Big counter right by Hiseni and Kanters is hurt and holding.

Round 6

Hiseni may have spent himself in the fifth, as he is now gingerly widening his feet like a reduction compass and melting into the rear leg side when Kanters hurtles at him with headhunting overhands. Kanters pressuring and forcing Hiseni to hold now. Kanters mixing in a few body shots and dribbling a cheeky jab off the face of Hiseni when he lowers his guard too close within range. Naught but a few counter jabs over the head by Hiseni.

Round 7

Hiseni is backed into the ropes with body jabs and high arcing rights. Hiseni bounces off them and intentionally collides into Kanters to force a brief clinch. Bobbing and weaving under the jab, Kanters is using lots of body jab feints to get Hiseni to suck in his gut and scurry away, often in straight lines nearly into the ropes. Kanters is muscling Hiseni against the ropes and the ref calls a break. Hiseni counters with a windmilling right as Kanters pecks up at him from a partial crouch. Hiseni flurries and now pushes Kanters against the ropes.

Round 8

Hiseni fighting in spurts despite the crowd egging him on with vigorous chants of "Ramadan!", mostly just light flurries parlayed into clinches. A few windmilling rights land on the nape of Kanters' neck as they slam together in the pocket. Kanters is tromping after Hiseni and the crowd boos the lack of action, which further has a damp towel swaddled over it when Kanters' glove needs to be re-taped, which takes almost half a minute. Time in. Kanters gallops in toward Hiseni behind a chiseling jab and some quick swatting hooks up top. Kanters drags Hiseni against the ropes in a messy brawl with both missing or clanging shots off each other's flanks.

Round 9

Hiseni jabs and moves, using something like the shoulder roll, but a little too upright, dancing in & out. Kanters is falling short with the jab and embedding the looping rights into Hiseni's left palm when he launches himself in with them and lets it fly blind with his face down. Hiseni unloads a series of short body shots on Kanters as the latter is attempting to clinch & reset on the inside, and the crowd goes wild. Hiseni keeps up a blur of activity, on the way into clinches and persisting after the breaks.

86-85 Hiseni
