Gamboa vs. Ramirez is off, new opponent to be named shortly
Marcos Ramirez (25-0-0, 16 ko, #2 WBO) pulled out of his scheduled fight against Olympic gold medallist Yuriorkis Gamboa (9-0-0, 8 ko, #8 WBC, #5 WBA) for HBO’S Boxing After Dark on May 17th. ARENA-CEO Ahmet Öner: “It’s a pity but there’s nothing we can do about it. Obviously even the best fighters in the world are afraid of Gamboa. We are ready to put him up against anybody in the world. This kid is nothing but a sensation. He will blow away everybody opponent that comes his way..”

The show on May 17th will be the first joint venture of ARENA Box-Promotion and Gary Shaw Productions.

Öner: “I am very happy that in Gary Shaw we found a strong and reliable partner for our US business. And, of course, I am very proud to have the chance to present my fighters on HBO. This is what every promoter wants and it shows that ARENA is recognized all around the world – I am proud that we made this happen in less than two years of very hard work.”

The new opponent for Gamboa will be named shortly.

Öner: “It will definitely be a top-notch name. Gamboa wants to fight for a world title ASAP so he can’t waste any time with can tomatoes. I will go on to put him in with the best fighters in the world – and I’m sure he’ll beat every single one of them.”
