I just don't understand why Evans can't pull out of the Davis fight and fight Jon Jones. It doesn't make sense. Jon Jones should be fixing his hand or whatever it was. He shouldn't be doing this because he doesn't want to waste time.
Evans and Jones don't have a choice here. It's obvious that they aren't fighting because Zuffa management thinks that Rampage is a more marketable opponent for Jones.
I'm just crossing my fingers, and hoping we can get a Rampage from 2007. Jackson is hard to take down, and has better hands than anyone Jones has faced. A younger Rampage would be a stern test for Jones. I just don't know if he has it in him anymore.
Rampage is done fella sad to say. Im not going down the same road as I did with Mirko when he rejoined the UFC hoping for one more LHK, only leads to disapointment But I think Jon Jones cleaning out the 'dead wood' of the division isnt necessarily a bad thing. Rampage for example is living off his name these days. Would anyone else have got a shot if they had put in the exactly same performances as Quinton has in his last 3?
Probably not, but I don't think 2 of those were entirely his fault. Part of the reason Jackson's recent performances have been dull are because he tries to fight mma bouts as though they were boxing bouts, and his last two opponents fought like they were scared of him. I think he may be getting a little benefit of the doubt for how passive Machida and Hamill were. I'd rather be seeing Machida fighting him, but he had his chance to stake his claim against Jackson and blew it. If Machida had tried as hard to win one of the first two rounds as he did the 3rd, maybe we'd be seeing him against Jones instead.
I have this feeling too. Rampage will bring the hype but ultimately be a name on his record. They'll hype the Quinton win in his next fight and the fight after that. Might be trying to build the next Silva.
I dont understand whats going on here. If Evans/Jackson was a title eliminator...why did the loser get the title shot?
