Shogun is one of many! Jones might as well have fought a knee capped mobster that night. He won the title.. Just want to see if he can hold it.
So it was all Shogun's poor conditioning that led to that? Not the fact that Jones nearly KTFOed him in the first ten seconds with a flying knee?
Great point! That fight really demonstrates that you need a lot more than a good chin to make it in mma. :good
You're right, a Chin is EXTREMELY important but without a wide variety of skills it doesn't do anything but leave you open for taking monumental ass whoopings like Shogun got and brain damage later on in life. I give Shogun high marks for a ridiculously sturdy Chin but I do believe that his heart is glass for that shameful display of tapping after the liver shot.
You ever get tagged in the liver? Multiply whatever you got hit with times ten, then you would feel Shogun's pain. :hop
Yes, I have, and it's terrible but I'm also not a pro fighter, someone who is expected to fight through pain and adversity until no longer capable. While I have no illusions that the fight wouldn't have been over within a matter of seconds of the liver shot it would have been far more manly to just take the few academic follow-up blows because the ref was coming in to save him regardless.
Ever had a staph infection, dummy? It's not very pleasant and after having had one learning how to grapple was a bit less important than not going through that **** again.
Hatton made Castillo quit with a shot to the liver. Hopkins did the same to De la Hoya. I have a friend that had an excellent amateur boxing record, but didn't do so well as a pro because he waited almost 10 years after he stopped his amateur career before trying. That, and he never got into quality shape. Any, I saw him dominate a fighter for 5 rounds, in a 6 round fight. My friend technically superior, but the other fighter has a lot of heart. In the 6th round, he dropped my friend with a liver shot. He was trying to get up. You could see the strain in his face as though he were trying to lift the rear end of a car. He didn't get up in time. He told me that he felt paralyzed. He said he'd never been hurt like that. Now imagine a shot like that happened to you, and your opponent is allowed to keep hitting you while you're on the ground.
It will clear up with treatment, you just got to take it on the chin, so too speak Dont be criticising someone's heart when you've got Glass Skin
You'd find you have glass skin, as well, if you ever went to a gym and rolled. It's a quite common occurence, far too common for me to keep wasting my money on gym dues AND expensive medical treatment.
Read my above post. I've been hit on the liver and it completely immobilizes you and I don't expect Shogun could have done anything from there to even survive. That being said, be a man and take the shots until the ref pulls him off of you or you end up looking like the posterboy for Glass Hearts, GSP.
Uh, yes, if glass wallet implies that I'm not willing to spend thousands of dollars and time in the hospital for a small pleasure a few times a week, then yes, I have one. Really, you come off as a repetitive and somewhat slow child that consistently butts into adult conversations by making snide, and quite frankly, unclever remarks that couldn't bother me less due to their intrinsic falsehood. At least when I personally insult you it's about intelligence, something that has easily been proven that you lack. The funny thing is, I generally like British "humour" but yours is....well, it's just juvenile and unoriginal. I guess that's why the English make the jokes and the Welsh dig the coal.
