Rampage retires!

Beebs makes a compelling argument, I'm seeing the light.

 

Will he finish up with TUF ? or will they have to replace him as one of the coaches ?

 

Tuf is already over, it's filmed months in advanced to give the finalists time to properly train.

If he wants to be in the movie business, Rampage, good luck to you, man. I hope he makes it big, and I'm not being sarcastic. ... I hope the movie thing works out for him. If that's what he truly wants to do, and that's what he feels and that's what he thinks his career is, I wish him all the luck in the world."

White said he didn't get any advance warning from Jackson about the surprise retirement announcement and that he still likes Jackson personally, but that if Jackson wants to leave the UFC, White can't stop him.

"I just found out, too," White said. "Rampage has been a friend of ours. We really like Rampage. I'm not going to get into the battle of who's done what for who and all that stuff. We've done a lot for him and yes, he's been there and fought. The guys who come in here, they're fighters. That's what they do. We give them fights and they fight. And they make money and we make money. That's the way it works."

If the A team does well and a sequel comes out at least Rampage is guaranteed another big film role

He'll be so good in that role i'm sure he'll get other roles from it, unless everyone can only ever see him as BA Baracus

I'm all for employees stickin it to employers who don't treat them with respect. It seems, atleast lately, Rampage was being dictated to by the UFC and had no say on his fights. Funny that thing he says about how Dana made him act like he was scared of Machida. I bloody believed it! He might yet make a better actor than we all think he will. Anyway, Rampage wasn't one of my favorites fighters, but he was always funny and entertaining, so it was great watching him all these years. Wish him all the best.

 

Good point, look how bad the Rock sucks and he keeps getting movie roles. And guys like Vin Diesel, this guy is horrible. I would rather see Rampage in any one of his roles. And I can say the confidently with out ever seeing Rampage act.

 

I don't think it's wrong at all for Dana to expect Rampage to fight Rashad when he agreed to do so. Dana's business is the UFC, and I don't blame him for being pissed.

But, the bottom line remains that Rampage had to make a choice. Considering the filming dates for the A-Team, it was either going to be one or the other.
Although the Rashad fight could conceivably be pushed to a later date. The A-Team wasn't going to budge it's dates to accommodate Rampage.
And even if Jackson's acting career goes nowhere after this film, it's an excellent role. Just look at the cast. Obviously he felt it was an opportunity he just couldn't turn down.

I think it's stupid for him to retire though. What are the odds he stays retired?

 

I don't think he will stay retired very long at all.

 

Its good for marketing a fight when a fighter was retired and is making a "comeback fight."

 

Yep. And it's not like the MMA world is going to say "Sorry Quinton, you went and made a movie so you can never fight again."

I think Rampage is making the right choice. It's unfortunate that we may now never see Rashad and him fight, but I don't blame him at all for taking a role in a big budget action movie that'll give him a ton of exposure to people who've never heard of him.

 

If Shogun beats Machida, Rampage will be back IMMEDIATELY to try and 1) Avenge that brutal loss and 2) get his belt back.

 

Are you implying that Rampage is scared of Machida?
Because he aint.
