A strong source indicates to Bloody Elbow that Chuck Liddell is currently in negotiations to move to heavyweight in order to fight Randy Couture. The proposed fight would take place on June 13th in Cologne, Germany.

The UFC wants to have Randy on their Germany show because he speaks the language and can do all the promotion. The winner of the fight would face the heavyweight champion in a big fight at the end of the year.

Couture is uninterested in moving down to 205 where Forrest Griffin is champion and Wanderlei Silva is also a contender. Both are close to him and in his camp, and weight cutting takes a toll at his age. Given his status, they aren't going to have him fight guys like Cheick Kongo, it is only big fights for Couture at this stage.

For Liddell, the thought is that at his age the weight cutting process is taking more of a toll on his body, and whereas he would have to win a bunch of fights to get back at contention at 205, the heavyweight division is thin enough where he could jump in and be an immediate contender with a win.

It is believed internally that Couture/Liddell will draw better than Silva/Liddell, and they know that a potential Liddell/Lesnar match would probably be the biggest PPV in the history of MMA. It's one of those win-win situations for PPV business. Even a match between the two losers later in the year could likely do big business.

The Anderson Silva match was discussed, but the buyrate news from October pretty much sealed the deal against that fight. Anderson Silva will still probably fight in February in the UK, but not against Liddell.

For those counting, this show could be UFC 100.

this fight would be gay and pointless. is there anyone here that would want to see this?

it would be a good under card fight. like the last fight before the main event. but it is not a good main event fight.i wouldnt want to pay for it.

now if it was free on spike on the other hand im not saying i would change the channel

    What do you mean pointless?

Neither one of them will probably ever be champions again, and I don't know that Chuck can beat Randy at HW.

I mean, what's a better matchup for either of them. They are both fading fast and neither of them probably have a great shot of ever being a champ again. So, I guess you could feed Chuck to Anderson Silva or Randy to (I don't even know who he would fight at Heavy).

I think it could be an exciting fight and that's all I need to be interested.

Its actually not a bad fight but why do they gotta do it a 4th time ? We already seen a trilogy nothing more is needed.

Pointless fight. And what happens now. Chuck loses to Rampage, Jardine and Evans but beats Randy and all of a sudden gets a shot at the Heavyweight Title?????

Guys, if you aren't interested in a 4th fight between them.... then don't watch it. I can't think of any heavyweight fight I would be interested in seeing Randy fight other than Randy vs Nog... and that fight isn't going to happen unless Nog loses to Mir. I don't think that will happen either. So, considering that there isn't really a big fight out there for either of them that make sense at the moment, this fight makes perfect sense. Why not?

I have always been interested in seeing what happens if Chuck and Randy fought at Heavyweight. I have always felt like Randy would be too much for him there. Now... considering the stage in their careers I think that I like this 4th fight even more.

I know that I would be interested in watching this fight. It really makes a lot of sense for both of them right now as well. Big payday, and big reward for the winner. For the loser.... well, Randy is clearly at the age of retirement and Chuck hasn't got his legs back under him since losing to Jackson the second time anyways.

So if Couture wins then they have to fight a fifth time? Let's have Ortiz/Shamrock on the undercard.

Ill watch it but still its easy to see why some people arent happy with it. They already fought 3 times its a good fight yeah but its been settled they already did a damn trilogy and the winner especially if its Liddell does not deserve a title shot IMO. Liddell should fight Shogun if Shogun beats Coleman lets finally do that fight both guys will be fighting for their careers in that one much like the great Wanderlei-Liddell matchup. Randy should fight the Mir-Nog loser. Agian good fight but lets see some fresh new matchups we might as well see GSP-Hughes agian.
