In NC, huh? That's my neck of the woods. I'll have to see if any of the guys from the school want to check this out. This seems like a pick-em match to me as both are strong and explosive wrestlers. No doubt Monson has the better submissions game however. Could be interesting.

I don't think Randleman will get anywhere against Monson.

Randleman said he was coming back. Against Monson though at heavy sounds like an alarmingly stupid idea. Kevins got some giant balls but his best days are long gone. After the staph infection and traumatic surgery his had im suprised his still even fighting on. But a comeback against a guy like Monson is a disaster espcially at 220lbs plus.

    Question for the group:

Why are you all so confident that Monson will dominate Randleman? How are you breaking down this fight?

    Just curious.

My gut tells me that this fight is obviously going to the ground. Randleman is just a sucker for submissions, and Monson is one of the best Submission Grapplers in the world. Not a promising match-up for Kevin. Of course, it isn't impossible to win, as we all know that Randleman is a great athlete, and can pull off a win against just about anyone. However, he is too long in the tooth to be changing his stripes now. He can't settle his emotions in his fights. He comes at his opponents like a bat out of hell, and leaves himself WIDE open for a sub.

Kevins never won a fight by submmision. I dont think he even knows what they are..
His not even a natural heavy and more suited to light heavy. Monson is a solid heavyweight and built like a house. This is a bad fight for him when Monsons jujitsu and ground control are much more superior than Monsons. Kevin only has a strikers chance.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion and Pride fighter Kevin Randleman recently announced on MMAWeekly Radio that he has signed or agreed to contracts with two different companies and will be fighting in the very near future.

After much speculation, he confirmed that he has signed with Global Fighting Championships and will make his debut with that organization in June.

“As of right now, I am fighting Jeff Monson, June 21 in North Carolina in Bobcat Arena,” said Randleman.

First things first though, he is expected to make his return to fighting in Japan, a place he called home for many years while fighting in Pride Fighting Championships.

“My first fight is going to be May 18 in the new Japanese organization, it is not Pride, (but) World Victory Road,” he continued.

Randleman, who hasn’t fought since October 2006 in a loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, has not yet been given an opponent for the World Victory Road fight.

World Victory Road held its first event on Wednesday and announced that both Randleman and Roger Gracie would be fighting on its May event, but it is not yet clear that they would be facing each other.

Contacted for comment, a representative of Randleman’s said that they were working on the final details of his World Victory Road contract and that an opponent would be named shortly after everything is finalized.

Wow, that's a great breakdown for this fight.

I see the wild card as being Randleman's intensity. It always makes him dangerous - but his MMA skills are limited to the pure PNG variety. Although, Randleman did throw Fedor with the best suplex in MMA history.
