I think in best of 3 Turpin wins 2 of them. Tiger was a tough mother****er but not much more then that. I can see him winning one on pure brute force but Turpin figures and wins the other 2 comfortable.
It's a tough one. If it's both fighters at their absolute peak I would go with Turpin, at any other point I would say Tiger. I think it would probably be a dull fight with two immensely strong boxers grappling and wrestling each other most of the time. Robinson said Turpin was stronger in the clinches than anyone else he ever fought and that's what would 'clinch' a Turpin victory for me.
If it comes down to brute force then I don't think anyone beats Turpin. Doing that plays right into Turpin's hands.
Bump. Best of Turpin takes him, neither were the most consistent, but were great at their best. Turpin does some weird unorthodox things which allows him to catch them off guard, he will do some weird move to get a bit closer subtly, then spring in lightening fast and catch them, he also had great head movement and could get low to bait then spring up, Tiger was more conventional and they’re both very strong and can work on the inside, but I think Turpin’s better athleticism by way of speed and explosiveness and his more unorthodox moves allow him take Tiger off guard at times and those unorthodox moves allow him to land more because they distract Tiger so he doesn’t see the attacks coming. All of the things Tiger does well, Turpin is also great in those areas, strength, clinch work and bullying tactics etc. In summary, Turpin’s unordoxness makes the difference, he’d be able to take Tiger off guard so he can create bait or deception and sneak attacks in he doesn’t see coming and Turpin is able to predict the more convention Tiger’s attacks more often.
