I rank Loma behind prime RJJ. His speed, frightful power with either hand, and mastery of distance turned competent professionals into handcuffed amateurs. I actually felt sorry for guys like Reggie Johnson and Julio Gonzalez.
Random thought of the week - I have a friend whose not really a boxing fan, but does tune in to the big fights of UFC, and I have gotten him somewhat tuning in to the big boxing fights. So, hes a bit clued in on this fight.... and hes supporting Fury. He likes the whole overcoming addiction and weightloss thing. So what Im getting at is, I seem to find that people show more love to Fury for being a recovering drug addict slob who borderline shamelessly sabotaged his own career, family, and life, who shows up to fights in the conditions he does, but because hes recovering from these chapters, he gets love and support, meanwhile, the guy who didnt fail drug tests, the guy who didnt become a drug addict, the guy whose taken his fitness and activity seriously, and has 'seemingly' been a family man, doesnt. I absolutely understand rooting for a guy to overcome his demons, but I just find the disparity of support in situations like this (not just Wilder Fury, but many similar type of character matchups) interesting. I suppose it comes down to rooting for the underdog, relating to fallible celebrities, liking comeback stories, ect, ect.
Fair enough. I cant argue with that. I disagree but maybe I need to go watch some old Roy Jones again.
Wilder at 212 is going to get smashed by Fury who chuckled walking down off the stage after he heard it !
Definitely won’t hurt to check him out. Reggie Johnson was a solid champion who could do absolutely nothing with prime Roy. If Roy’s prime was during the Twitter/Instagram age, he would’ve been HUGE.
