Has there ever been a case of a notoriously dirty boxer who looked the other way and consistently allowed rule breaking in the ring as a ref?
there were certainly plenty of Boxing people who were more than just associates of the Money Men, from Managers, Fighters, Trainers, Writers and yes, Referees... Moe Moss comes to mind. Crooked, is sometimes very definitely applied, other times too strong a word, but a lot of people 'knew' where the opportunities & money came from, so in some cases it would have simply been a simple 'Understood' expectation. Others would have definitely been on the payroll so to speak. Boxing is as bent as a Revolving Door and yet some people act surprised or worse pretend it's not. the sad reality is, it cost a lot of people what they might have otherwise been.
