Wow, I didnt see that coming. But I don't think it will be too good on Randy's body to cut weight down at 205...

But, in Randy's prime, it would have been a pretty interesting fight, style wise.

The reports state that sources from within the Xtreme Couture camp have confirmed Couture's interest but at this point, it's just that.

Any possibility of a fight between the UFC Hall-of-Famer and Machida would rely on the outcome of the Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine light heavyweight fight at UFC 96.

If Jackson were to win as he is expected, he would automatically get a title shot against Rashad Evans at UFC 100 if both fighters are healthy. That would mean that Machida gets left out of the title picture once again and would pave the way for a fight with Couture.

Stylistically, I see this going like Liddell 2 & 3, only a more sutained beating over a quick KO.

ps I hope Machida is being payed championship level money for beating all these great fighters.

There are bigger paydays down the road for the champion and the UFC with guys like Liddell, Rampage, Shogun and Griffin still in the LHW ranks. By fighting Couture - Machida at the very least gets his career high payday by fighting one of the biggest names in the sport.

This is an interesting styles match up - but Couture has gone on record by saying (I'm paraphrasing here) that he thinks cutting to 205 at this stage in his career could be detrimental to his health and ability.

This would be another KO for Machida. Couture needs to retire, not drop in weight.

And Dana needs to let go of his old guys' nuts. Couture shouldn't be at LHW and Liddell does not deserve another shot at the title.

Randy hasnt cut weight since about 3 years ago and has gone on record saying he feels much better competiting at Heavyweight his body feels much younger and fresher. Now hes nearly 46 come June which isnt that far off and it probablly would get him seriously hurt in this fight or atleast knocked out cold Machida is no joke obviously. Id like to see Randy in there with Nogueira but really he is agian nearly 46 I think hes done enough and has nothing really to prove id like to see him retire but its about what he wants he can still fight regardless of what some idiots say.
