Couture, I like the guy but he's too old now. Should have hung them up.

well how long ago was the bj penn fight bc if machida cant get bj off him or ko him then i would'nt count randy out at all. i know its been a few years and hes better now but that fight was pathetic for machida. plus he could'nt stop tito just a couple years ago whos very stoppable. couture is likely to suprise us all bc machida is'nt familiar with the amouth of pressure couture is going to put on him. it all depends on how machida can handle it bc couture wont sit around he never does.

Couture's skill set give him a chance against anyone, but I think he may be too vulnerable for Machida's hand speed and accuracy at this stage. If Couture can avoid that big cross, he could push Machida against the cage and make it interesting.

Unless I spot something that changes my mind between now and then, I'm taking Machida by tko.

I'm think Machida by tko, but it'll be interesting to see how much trouble Randy can give him, and it'll be pretty telling as to where Machida is at.

I think Lyoto is going to knock him out cold. His chin has been touchy for a while, and his striking will leave him open for Lyoto's counters. I also don't think that Randy's grinding style will work for him, here. Lyoto is very strong in the clinch, and is also very difficult to take down.

It's not so much a left cross in the traditional boxing sense as Machida stands relatively square on when striking with power. Hence the left hand doesnt come across his body like a southpaw boxers does. He throws his hips forward rather than the more traditional singing motion of a boxer. This allows him to generate more power, but sacrifices the ability to throw fluid combos in large volumes as it leaves his feet in the wrong place. Lyoto counters this problem by either a right knee to the body or simply getting out of range and resetting
Watch his hips and stance rather than his hands to see what I mean. It's more like a straight than a cross

Look at the sweep after he lands the left in the first gif. That is great timing.

If/when Machida gets past Randy he'll need at least another win or two before he gets a title shot.
