Randy Couture vs Mark Coleman?

LOL Get you reading comprehension checked. When did I say Bonnar was a great fighter? I said he was a respected fighter with good wins over guys like Sam Hoger, James Irvin, and Keith Jardine. By no means is he a world beater, but still a good second tier fighter in a stacked division.

You seriously have to stop putting words in my mouth.

I never described Coleman as well-rounded or a "force of nature." I did say he still has strong wrestling and it true. You always have to watch out for a big, strong wrestler like Coleman who can take you down and hold you there.

You might question his conditioning based on the Shogun fight, but he didn't have enough money for anything close to a proper training camp before UFC 93 and he was in much better shape against Bonnar.

I don't know why you think its so amazing for Coleman to be fighting at 205 at an advanced age seeing as he was never a huge HW in the first place and Couture is doing the same exact thing, but his performance against Shogun and his win over Bonnar prove he still has what it takes to hang in the division, especially in fights where he has a style advantage.

It's not for me to "Retire" a pair of legends, but If these two did meet i'd love it to be the last fight for both of them. I have nothing but admiration for them both and whilst they will always be great champions, their time as contenders has passed! In all honesty, what would be the next fight for the winner or loser of this fight? Would anyone be happy to see true greats like these two gentlemen in prelim fights? As for the fight itself, I guess my money would be on Randy. He is the better all-round fighter. Mark, for all his superb wrestling and tremendous strength is rather one-dimensional.

I'm very interested in that fight. I don't know what ya'll talking about. My mind is telling me Couture, but I have a gut feeling that Coleman might upset Couture on this one. However I do believe it to be very unlikely.

 

Man this is the sort of **** fight that'll slowly kill UFC.

Coture, Coleman, Ortiz, Liddell etc have all had their day in the sun yet White and the UFC insist on shoving them down our throats.

My theory is that White and the UFC are terrified that there franchise is being dominated by South Americans. They're shoving all these old timers onto cards in order to shore up PPV buys with names that the public are familiar with, though there best days are well behind them. This will lead to stagnation.

 

Coleman is one of the few men, who even at an advanced age, was able to give Fedor a contest in the ring...however, is it just me, or has the UFC become a stable for either gimmick fighters or grumpy old men? Couture/Coleman is a good match up I suppose, however, but damn, do you want to shell out 30 bucks or more for this as the main event?

 

UFC is the new WCW.

Got to agree.. A lot of people are worried about Randy Couture, and wonder if he can keep fighting.. The more important thing to consider is if Mark Coleman really even brings anything that is dangerous to a fight anymore.

He's an old wrestler that cant really shoot anymore, and tends to take damage that is painful to watch in his standup.. Last few times I've seen him fight, I cringe when I see him take shots.. He really has little to base his offense on without a good takedown, since 99% of the damage he has dealt in his career against opponents has been good ol GnP.. He's like the grandfather of GnP..

this fight is pointless. no way should it be a headliner. both guys were great but now this matchup is just a sideshow not a main event

 

Yes they do..so why not push more of their great stable into main events??? That is what we are talking about :good
The other problem is his love for TUF fighters. ((Well Roy not in this mix)) How many of them have been beat, but yet on a main card a few shows later. To were a guy comes in gets beat and out the door. I think they shoudl do like Strikeforce dose, and put a free show on Spike once a month to showcase their young fights.

 

A laugable main event from a guy who whenever he has the chance will criticise boxing.

 

Mark's knee's are shot to ****. His knee's were ruined nearly a decade ago. And yet he's still here fighting. Even in his prime his standup was laughable. But much like Kerr he made up for his deficiencies with his wrestling and all the hormones he took. Randleman is the same. Their bodys are ruined by the years of abuse as well as all the injuries that have taken there toll. The best place for Coleman now is on the sidelines watching.
