A week from today in Manila for the vacant IBF light flyweight title, airing live on ESPN5 in the Philippines. Alvarado is ranked IBF #1 and Petalcorin is #3 (with the number two spot between them current unoccupied, making this in effect a true #1 vs. #2 for establishment of a lineage). Petalcorin, the southpaw former WBA interim world champ at light fly, is on a 6-0 (4) run since his loss to Omari Kimweri in 2016. A 2-time world title challenger at the weight, Alvarado is on a 15-0 (14) run since his loss to Juan Carlos Reveco in 2014. Petalcorin is three years Alvarado's junior, and is one inch shorter with 4½" less reach. They have a combined 51 knockouts in 67 bouts.
I think it'll be Randy on points of El Gemelo by KO. Pretty big fan of both, would rather see either of them against somebody else for the world title shot (as the loser is probably set back quite a ways from challenging for one again)
I read on Asian Boxing that Kyoguchi will target the winner. Alvarado vs Kyoguchi would be guaranteed fireworks.
Im going for petalcorin by ud just because alvarado is one tough mofo. I would honestly be surprised if petalcorin ko alvardo even if he has power as well. Really hoping petalcorin wins PH needs a player to mix in the hot 108 pds
@PinoyProdigy @BoyBato any idea what time undercards start on Aksyon, or the main card broadcast on ESPN5? Couldn't find the info at either website, just that doors will be at 3pm local time (so 3am EST...so I'm guessing first bout at 4, maybe then main card from 8pm?)
If i remember right undercard will start at 4 pm in Aksyon and then will switch the main event to espn5 by 7
