Such a film would only be commercially viable while he was still remembered by movie going fans as a flesh and blood competitor, not after they all died out and the sport had become a fringe interest. I think it's already too late for Turpin's life story to succeed as a cinematic release. Raging Bull was well timed, while Cinderella Man needed to be made no later than the early 1970s.

    50 years down the road, not enough people will remember or care about Turpin for the story to sell profitably, no matter how compelling.
