The man who outboxed SRR in the first fight and was leading SRR in the 2nd fight, vs today's best MW. Who wins? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTKbX7GSlhI[/ame]
Love Turpin but i believe todays boxers with all the advancements in sports in general, would be of an advantage in MOST cases with a few exceptions against the yester year fighters. 12 round contest: Martinez Decision Fight to the Death: Randy Turpin
Martinez still got tagged a fair bit by the Molasses brothers. I dont know how he is going to go against a tank of a middleweight who is probably just as awkward...Who won't follow him around in a predictable manner or use a stock standard attack against him. Turpin was unconventional, explosive and you really had to take his heart from him when he was at his best..because he came to win. My bet, on what Martinez has showed me thus far, is that he struggles...and losses a competitive decision.
Turpin was a great fighter in his own way, arguably Robinson's toughest opponent. I think Turpin UD, especially because well, he's a real middleweight
There's no way that boxers from that era could compete today, with the advances in nutrition, training and skill. I mean, look how small Turpin was. Could a 160 lb boxer compete as a middleweight today? Also, look at his technique. How could a boxer with his hands held so low compete in today's division?
