I agree. How many times has that story played out in boxing. Success makes most people lazy.

In the rematch SRR was down on the cards and had a cut eye they were going to stop it but he begged for one more round. He went out in that round and ko'd Turpin. Just shows how great he truly was.

Im fairly certain Robinson was up on the cards and was cut in the same round he stopped Turpin.

Goldstein I dont think ever even stepped in to check it from memory.

It would have been a kracker to see live I reckon...Robinson started better, Turpin was starting to come on and then Ray turned up the heat and stopped him brutally.

Just checked, draw on one card, Robinson by 1 and 2 respectively on the others.

the second fight was better than the first too.i used to hear all sorts of stories about the dirty tricks the americans got up to, to upset turpin.it was mostly crap but i would listen to anything to do with the late great randolph adolphus turpin

As I said before I think it would have been a pearler to see as it was happening...good tussle, good drama, good finish.

Disagree. I think Gene Fullmer was Robinson's toughest opponent.

i think you need to take robinson's age into account when talking about fullmer. fullmer is one fighter that never impressed me on tape. don't get me wrong, he deserves to be in the hall with his accomplishments but in a prime for prime matchup at middle, i don't think he fares well vs other greats.

Don't know if he was tougher that LaMotta, but he still gave Robinson hell in their two fights.
