Yeah that sounds about right. Maybe Mercers a bit better, but he sucked at times during his career.

A person with heart also trains like an animal.

I like Arreola but giving 50% in training and 110% in the ring shows that he does lack some heart. Same with toughness. He is tough in the ring but from what I have read he isn't as tough as he needs to be in training.

Wow, a bit better? With respect, Mercer was much better than this guy. With that said, I do admire Arreola's spirit and I do like the fact that he's bringing attention back to the HW division again. Chambers is a better all-around package though.

Yeppers! Arreola has no heart. Going in the ring and getting beat up for 20 minutes is a lot easier than training hard day in and day out for an entire lifetime. He has god given strength, but he pisses it away with laziness and a debilitating junk- food addiction.

It's very easy to sit on your arse and say that getting beat up in the ring is easy compared to training hard. The truth is that neither of them are easy. Should Arreola train harder? Most assuredly. Don't that mean he has no heart, absolutely not. It means he might not have must discipline. Heart and discipline are two different things, in case you were wondering. By comparison, there are lots of guys with a lot of discipline but no heart.

Just because he's got a problem with food doesn't mean he doesn't have heart. But as far as durability, no he's not on the level with those other guys. Sorry.

I disagree. I think discipline is the biggest part of having heart. If heart is he desire to win,the desire to prove yourself, the desire to be the best then you will need discipline.
I never said that getting beat up is easy, I said it was easier. And it's much MUCH easier. The main struggles of a fighter, or any athlete, come in the gym. They come with waking up at 4:00am do go running. They come when it's time to go out for some beers with your buddies, but you have to refuse.

Very few have enough talent to excel without the discipline. And discipline is a sign of how much you want it...it's completely intertwined with heart.

+1 and I've always felt this way across other sports as well. If Arreola can get down to 239 like he wants and maintain that level consistently then I'd he will have risen in my eyes.

However, having said all of that he really does bring it as hard as he physically can each time out. He just needs to dedicate himself out the ring.

  14. Arreola's physique is utterly repulsive to me. I won't watch any more of his fights unless he wears a shirt in the ring.
