Hard to say. If we are talking pure power:

    #1 Wilder
    #2 Marciano
    #3 Demspey
    #4 Langford

I will add that being regarded as the hardest puncher of your era, is not an unqualified compliment!

It usually means that you lack much else, or why aren't you a dominant champion?

Marciano a Notch above Wilder & Dempsey whom I would rank as even, Langford last he probably had his best power at lower weights, MW was probably best suited for Langford.

All you have to do is look at JersayJoe Walcotts face at impact of that Famous Marciano KO says it all about Pure Power and or anything else who hits hardest with the most power.

The Marciano punch in the famous picture didn’t even knock Joe Walcott down...

This is probably the correct answer, though I'm not sure if Dempsey hit harder than Langford.

Wow, this is a clearly a reflection of folklore clouding peoples judgement about the abilities of past boxers.
It's like you can't trust anything these people say.

Its an established fact that the famous picture of the punch distorting Walcott's face is not the ko punch .I have the photo framed in my study.
Some will believe what they want to believe, and see what they want to see!

(This punch is often misidentified as the knockout punch, bit it was in fact the setup punch for the knockout.) In my opinion, this is one of the best photographs ever. After you get beyond the focal point of the picture--Walcott's face absorbing Marciano's right cross--look at the rest of the picture carefully.

I was aware that this photo wasn’t the knockout punch, but are we saying the punch in the photo immediately preceded the knockout punch?
