So it’s 100% that the Miske fight exists? I didn’t know that.

Do we know if it’s the whole fight - though I know it was < 3 rounds at any rate.

I’ve read that Dempsey was being charitable in granting Miske a shot - to give him a good pay day - not that what I’ve read is necessarily 100% correct.

Brennan’s later KO loss to Miske was perceived as somewhat suspect with Brennan’s perceived lack of effort being heavily questioned -

I believe Bill’s purse was also withheld because of this - but I assume he eventually got paid but I don’t know for sure.

I just found this clip which includes what I believe is snippet prior to the Dempsey-Miske fight. Quality doesn’t look too bad.

Would love to see the actual fight.

From 2:03 thru 2:14, you can see footage of them sitting in their corners between rnds & then a few moments tussling in the ring.

    Cheers man.

Do we know if Klompton ever confirmed that he had the Dempsey - Miske footage?

    My Top 3:

    1. 1919 Jess Willard
    2. 1923 Luis Firpo
    3. 1921 Georges Carpentier

I have just realized I have never actually watched the Jack Dempsey vs. Tommy Gibbons fight. I really need to fix that.

idk, I believe K/clompton was permabanned before I even started an account here. Though from what I see, he also hated Dempsey so maybe he's trying to stop people from seeing a fight where he actually looks good.

    Brennan
    Sharkey
    Tunney 2
    Gibbons
    Willard
    Firpo
    Carpentier
    Tunney

I like the fights where Jack is challenged, so I can better judge his all-around skillset. I think his fights against Willard and Firpo aren't much help in this regard since they were mostly punching bags, IMO. The Brennan fight shows Dempsey in what should have been his physical peak against an experienced opponent who was about the same size as Jack. Sharkey and Tunney were also skilled and about the same size as Jack. Tunney 2 is a good test. It's a good look at how cautiously Jack fought when he was up against a man who could hurt him. Quite a contrast to his fights against Willard and Firpo but similar to his fights against Brennan and Sharkey. Gibbons and Carpentier were light heavyweights. The Gibbons fight was a good test for Jack, but I always thought if he was as great as he has been made out to be that he should have knocked Tommy out because of his size, strength, and speed advantage, especially in light of the extremely hot weather. Carpentier was small and overmatched, so I've always discounted Jack's performance against Georges because of that fact. Tunney 1 was fought in a downpour and Jack hadn't fought in three years, so I really can't say it is a good gauge to judge Jack.

Ah yeah, you’re relatively new here. Why does it seem like you’ve been here a lot longer that? - and I do mean that in a good and nice way.

Lol re your comment. I would like to think not but…who knows? Haha.

I think part of the rationale that Klomp put forward is that he put a lot of hard work and $$$ to secure the films that he has - which is fair enough in so far not necessarily being inclined to circulate them for free.

As an optimist, I hold that we’ll get to see it one day. We need a mega rich boxing fan and philanthropist, willing to buy up all the rare films and share them with us for free - is Bill Gates a fan of boxing by any chance?

Klompton claimed if memory serves me right that outside of an opening clip where the two fighters circle each other and one throws a left hook, which lasts about 5 seconds and was in his possession that no other portion of the fight survives. The above clip shows that he misspoke and more footage albeit brief does survive.
Unless this is the clip he was referring to and he gave an awful description of it, as this shows much more of a tussle or clinch than circling each other.
