Which heavies beat the best competition? I think we can make it a statistical measure: - 10 points for beating an all time great (generally considered a top 15 all time heavy on most lists) in their prime. Example, Ali's win over Foreman. - 9 points for beating an atg (generally regarded as a top 15 atg heavy) who was a bit past their peak but still in their prime - i.e. Ali beating Liston who was still good enough to reign for another 4-5 years. - 8 points for beating a top 30 all time heavy in their prime or a dangerous/highly skilled top contender in their prime. E.g. Ali beating Norton in their second fight or Lewis beating Tua or Frazier beating Quarry. - 7 points for beating a top contender who isn't the most skilled but is highly dangerous due to punching power OR a ATG heavy who is significantly past their prime but still has some ability left in them, i.e. Fury beating Wilder or Holmes beating Shavers, Holyfield beating Foreman or Lewis beating Holyfield. - 6 points for beating a decent contender, i.e. Lewis beating Briggs, Lets start with Ali 10: Foreman 9: Liston X 2, Frazier X 2 (36 points) 8: Norton X 2, Quarry X 2, Lyle X 1, (40 points) 7: Shavers, Bugner X 2, Patterson X 2, Bonavena, (42 points) 6: Terrell, Mac Foster, (12 points) Total score: 140 total. I wonder if we can do this for all the atg';s and come up with a general consensus on who beat the best competition.
