I disagree with your assessment of Lyle's chin: Lyle, in fact, had great durability. But aside from that, I agree with what you say. If anything, I would tend to rate Young's power as below-average. It's worth noting that Young took eight rounds to dispose of Richard Dunn, who had a notoriously weak chin.
I have seen the Foreman-Young fight several times. Foreman was hopelessly exhausted when Young floored him. The knockdown is not testimony to Young's power. What round did Young stun Lyle in? If it's posted on youtube, I'll check it out myself. However, you'll never convince me that Young was any kind of puncher. I saw many of Young's fights live on TV during the '70s and '80s. Lack of power was Jimmy's major weakness. If Young had decent power, he would have been unbeatable, maybe.
It's impossible that foreman just collapsed to the canvas without young doing anything at all. young connected flush with an overhand right and foreman went down. plain and simple. I realize that foreman was exhausted, but he managed to stay kn his feet for the rest of the round, so he wasn't THAT tired. the shot hurt and stunned a tired foreman. Young stunned Lyle in the 7th round of their meeting. it's not on YouTube but I have the whole fight on my computer and I'll try to upload it soon. What about The bodyshot that young hurt dokes with? personally, young was a stunning puncher. if he wasn't then people would have steamrolled him.
Holy ****! You're gonna get Young/Lyle on the computer????????????? Oh, I can't wait. Yea, I know, everytime ali knocks someone down, its, oh man ali knocked the crap out of him. And when Young knocks someone down, its, oh, he was just tired and fell down. How do they think they got tired anyways, maybe by missing punches all night and getting hammered with good, crisp counterpunches maybe?
Yeah I got the whole Lyle fight. Young boxes beautifully and knocks Lyle into the ropes. I agree with you on the knockdown. that right hand was sweet, crisp, and presice.
Good power I think a 5 or 6 is fair. Like Meldrick, Young had enough power to make you respect it. Another fighter with underrated power is Pernell. Later in his career when he sat down on his punches he could use his power more.
Which Young/Lyle fight do you have and/or have seen? If you upload both or either just one I would REALLY appreciate it as I'm a Young fan. I loved your tribute vids on him.
I have the second. it's in excellent quality too :good Im not sure if I could upload it though without coptright infringment. the torrent site that I downloaded it off of clearly said don't upload it to different sites. I could give you a scorecard though
Sweet Pea did a good job weight training. No body building ****, just bench press, squat, and shoulder press with lots of reps.
There's always someone or something that tries to ruin the fun. A scorecard with a very short summary of each round would be nice lol. I've always wondered why the Shavers-Young 2 & Young-Lyle 1-2 fights are so hard to get.
Copyright claim does ruin a lot indeed. I'll be sure to either private message you or start a thread on that.
