Sometimes I wonder if all Norton needed to be recognized as an all time great was the three fights against Ali (two of which he won imo) and the war against Larry. Watch those fights back to back, WHAT a fighter!!!

Yeah, he sucked against super-punchers. That doesn't take away the fact that the man had more heart than Tyson and Liston put together. Just my opinion.

Berbick had his best win ever right before he fought Tyson. They both beat good versions of Berbick. One could actually argue he gained experience post Holmes (and from that fight itself). Personally i think he stayed pretty linear except the odd off night. Both versions were awkward.

What Tyson brought to the table would almost always see him beat non ATG level fighters far easier than Holmes. He was a machine against guys below his own level where as Holmes could struggle with them before inevitably prevailing.

Tyson would have whooped the Berbick that Holmes fought as well and Holmes would have comfortably decisioned the Berbick that Tyson fought.

This is pretty easy to agree with.

Berbick landed nothing on Mike and was blitzed, no comparison at all.

You missed my joke. Just using Ali's name and the legendary ButterBean, who might have beaten most of Sullivan's oppositon on size and power alone as this opponents were often short in these areas.

I'm not sure if Ali had Parkinson's at that point in time. When was it diagnosed? Ali was in shape for Holmes, at least from an eye test. He lacked his old reflexes and never did well vs jabbers.

I guess I was emphasizing the length of time between those fights. Holmes was also 31 when he fought Berbick, Mike I believe was still a teenager.

I could be wrong, sorry if so.

He could hardly function in that fight! He said he had Parkinson`s in the press conference after the bout and failed the medical before the fight, he couldn`t even stand on one leg, but the powers that be needed the fight to go on, King wanted to milk the corpse of Ali, it was all in a documentary.

Morrison got off to a great start, outboxing a sluggish Mercer through the first three rounds en route to taking all three rounds on all three of the judge's scorecards. Morrison was able to limit Mercer's offense, landed several combinations and opened up a cut on Mercer's lower lip. However, Mercer rebounded with a strong round four, landing several hard rights to Morrison's head. Mercer would end the fight only 28 seconds into the fifth round. With Morrison backed up into the corner, Mercer was able to land a 15–punch combination. Clearly hurt from the exchange, Morrison slumped against the ropes, but the referee allowed Mercer to land several more punishing blows to a now defenseless Morrison before finally ending the fight.
