If Pacquiao wanted to he could have outboxed Cotto to any easy decision.

    With Robinson being a 10
and Torrecampo being a 1 in the technical skills department

    Pacquiao is a 9.

Pacquiaos only flaw is on defense where he takes flush shots on ropes when cornered or while he's resting. He just holds his hands up. He's gotten better at ropeadoping though lmao.

Pacquiao has worked on the jab and right hook. Pac is flawless on offense now.

actually a fair post, I would say 8, pacs Offense is what makes him so great his defense is oki, its not as bad as some people think otherwise he would have been stopped a few more times by now.
He has some small flaws but makes up for it with toughness, heart and great offense.
I think marquez, floyd, hopkins are better technically than him.

An 8 for Manny. Mayweather has a technical edge on Pacquiao, because his defence is better by a greater margin than Pac's offence is better than his. Pacquiao showed some serious technical skills in the fights with Oscar, Cotto and Margarito, as well as brilliant offensive abilities in the fights with Morales, Diaz, Hatton and many others.

Bear in mind of course, that the technically superior fighter does not always win. There are other critical attributes that must be taken into consideration in an h2h discussion. Guys like Michael Nunn and Donald Curry were some of the finest technical fighters ever, but they became unstuck against certain fighters, and lost to these technical inferiors.

I give him 8.5, he's not just lucky, I think his feints, footwork, combination punching/ variety, and his movements have brought him success that essentially speaks for itself. I think he's better than some imply, but that's just my personal opinion.

Why include handspeed and chin when judging how good someone's technical skill is? Those are largely based on athleticism and what people were born with.

the only fighters I would consider more technically skilled than Pac right now are Hopkins, Floyd, and Marquez... You could make a case for Nonito and Ward as well if you stretch it but really Pac is more skilled than they are. Maybe Rigo could be but we don't know yet. Anyways there's not many.

Hard to just examine 'technical skill' in general. As an offensive machine, Pac is actually one of the best I've seen -- throws all sorts of punches at all sorts of angles. He mainly goes to the head, but his body shots are also good, and he can string them into nice combinations as he did with Clottey. I like how he fires his left and skips to the side -- most prominently seen against Hoya -- as it's very effective and keeps the other guy turning. He has a nice counter right-hook, which he timed Hatton with and dropped him. He also does a good job of countering jabs with his straight left -- while Floyd uses his pull-counter against jabs, Pac simply throws his at the same time as the incoming jab, like a 'stop hit'.

I also like Pac's footwork in regard to the way he fires combinations and moves around the other guy before firing more -- he's very light on his feet. When he has to deal with someone moving away or to the side he falters, though -- he doesn't seem to have much skill in cutting off the ring. His defence is also not great, although some of that is to be expected due to the fact that he's an offensive boxer-puncher rather than a pure boxer or defensive artist like Floyd. He does show good head movement, but sometimes simply stands there and holds a shell guard up, which leaves him open to the uppercut while limiting his own vision.

Main weaknesses seem to be dealing with a moving target and the holes in his defence. His offensive ability (the skills as well as his athleticism) usually compensates for this, though...although he'd need to up his game against a moving Floyd.

    you're the definition of *******ation.....

even Gamboa have more skills than pacquiao and Ward is only second to floyd..
in fact they are out there a lot of more technically skilled fighters than pacquiao
pacquiao power and speed are his best weapons, damn the guy don't even know how to throw a good jab and even margarito hit him like 300 times LOL...
